| #1DavidArgallAug 03, 2014 13:35:23 | My local store reports 90 sales of the starter set [& the owner is pushing presales of PH, which suggests positive things].
The store also had its monthly convention, which had 2 5e games, with 11 players, a number likely held down by shortage of DMs and organization. However that was only in contention for 2nd place. Pathfinder had in excess of 50 players and some classical dungeons were at least as large as 5e.
What is the news out your way? |
| #2jaelisAug 03, 2014 13:37:08 | I'm jealous of your store! |
| #3ChrisCarlsonAug 03, 2014 13:59:50 | I can't speak to my FLGS's Starter Set sales. But the players of the weekly Pathfinder Society fought over the limited slots available when one of the DMs offered to start running the Starter Set. |
| #4Hortensio_peaceAug 11, 2014 11:33:22 | My store released the PHB on 8/8, and I came in about 10 minutes after they opened and they said it was already flying off the shelf. I didn't ask about the actuall numbers, but they had the PHBs in boxes behind the counter, and I say a few broken down boxes next to the pile-- so they had to have sold at least 30-40 in the first 10 minutes! I've been scouting out all the game shops in my area, and this store is by far the most D&D friendly, so I'm glad to see they have been getting the subsiquent business! I really want to see 5e succeed. |
| #5h347h50Aug 11, 2014 11:41:17 | My FLGS is running 2 groups of 5E 0PF 04E. The 5E groups are divided into two groups of 8 each.
They were also sold out of PHBs before the early release due to the store owner being cool. >_> |
| (Reply to #5)Anhur | My FLGS has sold through 90 copies of the PHB since Friday, and we have 4 5th edition D&D Encounters groups running every Wednesday night, with each group having 6-8 players. Definitely going very well! |
| #7basilburAug 11, 2014 17:32:22 | One of my local games stores stayed open til midnight and started selling the PHB at 12:01 am, 8/7. Loved it! Stood in line at midnight. HAd to be thirty people or more there with me all buying the handbook. |
| #8Evil_MouseAug 11, 2014 17:53:48 | sales start as of the 19th of this month i hope delievery driver deliver my book on time] I will love to see D&D collectables soon that october. |
| #9ShiroikenAug 11, 2014 18:59:05 | My FLGS has had some issues after the playtest. With no product to sell, they cancelled the Encounters events. Due to this and other reasons, they have unfortunatly alienated some of their customers. Because of this, I don't think they have as strong of sales as they hoped.
On a positive note, a friends FLGS has had great sales! |

| #11THEMNGMNTAug 11, 2014 20:04:34 | I ordered the whole enchilada on Amazon. But this weekend I decided to drop by a FLGS while in Washington state. (I live in California.) On Friday, Dark Tower in Bellingham sold out of 12 PHBs before lunch. On Sunday, Gamma Ray in Seattle had also sold out of the handful of PHBs they ordered. Both stores told me they had under-ordered, not expecting a reaction this positive for 5E. I left empty handed. Amazon, you're my only hope. |
| #12DLfanAug 11, 2014 20:24:42 | It has gone very well at my local store. I crowed about 5E and two of my players picked it up. Both were very surpised about the freedom to build their characters. This was especially true of my one friend who despised 4E because of the MMO archtypes such as tanky fighters, controller wizards and dpr rogues. He said he could build the kind of character he wanted and he still is having a hard time between choosing paladin, monk or sorcerer. My brother also likes what he has seen from his PHB. He likes the customization which is similar to 3E but without the broken math. He also felt that the feat choices were great and he is glad I am allowing the optional human feature of a feat , skill and two +1's. He also really liked the archer from the playtest and that has inspired him to play a ranger archer in our upcoming game. |
| #13VeleriaAug 11, 2014 20:30:00 | Our local FLGS is running roughly 24 people every wednesday for the past few months in 5e using playtest material and we are converting to the finished product now.

| #15quindiaAug 11, 2014 20:51:09 | Both of the local FLGS with Encounters and early release sold out of PHBs within hours of launch, but I don't know how may they got...
It's also number five on Amazon and obviously still in pre-order... |
| #16DevilbassAug 11, 2014 21:36:58 | It's worth mentioning that on amazon.ca the PHB is the #1 top-selling book currently. Also, the 401 games on Yonge St. in Toronto has been selling alot of 5e products. I think they decided to load up on the PHB after their first shipment of the Starter Set sold out the day it was released (yes, the early release).
Edit The DMG is the 4th top-selling book, and the Monster Manual is at #5. |

| #18TiaNadiezjaAug 11, 2014 23:42:19 | I found one at Tacoma Games in Tacoma, on Sixth. They had another when I left the building. |
| #19CCSAug 12, 2014 0:06:30 | The local shop hasn't sold any starter sets that I know of. (Everyone's content to keep playing whatever their already playing as they wait for the "real books". Phb though? They had a # of pre-orders , and sold a few more off the shelf to some very unexpected customers (people who hadn't been seen in years). |
