#1 edwin_su Nov 01, 2014 5:19:09	should WOTC use crowdsourcing ?   Looking at the table of contents of the DMG in the dungeon master workshop has some tools for building monsters spells magic items and character options. To me it sugests 5th has much more a attitude of if you need something for your campaign make it yourselve, instead of wait for  a suplement to come out that has something simular to what you wanted.   If the tools are powerfull enough WOTC could even use them to crowdsource. For example when working a forgotten realms campaign they could ask the comunity to come up with subclasses for red wizards. Then make a short list of about 3 to 5 and hand them out simular to the playtest document, and after some playtesting time ask the comunity to vote on what version of the red wizard they want in the book.   If make it yourselve is indeed a bigger focus of 5th then it has been in some resent editions what other things could WOTC do to embrace the homebrew/build it yourselve comunity ?

#8 Timborama Nov 03, 2014 7:34:26	I wouldn't mind people submitting things, and then everyone playtesting those ideas (or the "officially tweaked" versions). But I don't think I like the "Big Brother" style of "vote to see what version is official."   It just...feels wrong. Maybe it's because I see the occasional reality tv show where the better singer/dancer/whatever isn't the most popular or charming and gets voted off. Or some weird "crowd favorite" keeps going and threatens to take it all, despite having no business being there. I always liked it much better when the judges make the final decision based off of the voters (who create, say, a "bottom 3" to perform one last time and then the judges kick someone off). Because as much as the public SHOULD have influence, I believe that, in the end, the final decision should go to professionals...
