So, has anyone found any rules from Shadows of the Demon Lord they might rip-off for 5th?

Hey. So, Robert J. Schwalb, who was one of the lead designers of 5th, and one of the major authors on a number of 4e products (most notably Divine Power), just wrote an RPG system called "Shadow of the Demon Lord." Its sort of a cross between 4e, 5th, and WFRPG. The particular mix of DNA works very well. I don't see Shadow of the Demon Lord replacing 5th insofar as my gaming tastes are concerned. 5th has more of 2e in it than Shadows does, and that gives 5th a special place in my heart. The system does, however, have enough common DNA for some of its rules to be cross-compatible with 5th. I could see, for example, some tables replacing advantage/disadvantage with a banes/boons system! Just wondering if anyone has checked out this game and sees any rules they plan to use instead of 5th ed rules.

I hadn't heard of it till just now. I'll keep my eyes open for it. My local game store doesn't seem to carry very much rpg stuff, but I'll see if it shows up there.

Are there any free previews online you could point me to so I could check it out?

In the game, the DC is hard set at 10. Doesn't change. Also, to have a +10 is highly unlikely. I think it goes up to +5, need to read some more.

By that same token. To make something very very difficult banes are added.  More banes, more difficult.

So here's what it looks like before adding/subtracting any bonuses to the roll plus banes is

Sounds interesting.  I like that the bonus is simpy the difference between the stat and 10.  I thought 5e might do that in its quest for simplicity, but alas no.  I also like the boons and banes concept, and I think I like it as a method to replace proficiency.
