The book, that is. Picked it up Friday. Wow. Where do I start? The book is GORGEOUS. The art, aside from the halflings, is fan-frickin-tastic. The mechanics are great as well, reminding me of a revised, clarified 2nd edition. I allowed my group to write up their own characters and start playing through LMofP over the weekend to fabulous results: Three unconscious conditions just getting through the first cave and the Redbrand hideout. One of these lead to permanent death. Party made it to level 2. Now that's more like it. All in all, this is what I want from the game. Fighters are back to being awesome, barbarians and rangers remind me of their 1st edition counterparts, and wild magic is right there in the first book. Well done, WOTC, well done.
