Well, some of you may be familiar with the writer Erin M Evans, who's written a number of novels for D&D, and appears to be the only one besides Salvador writing novels at the moment.    Recently, she wrote up a pair of interesting posts that I thought I would share, if y'all haven't seen it.

Post number 1 is actually a good summary of how to play (or interact with) different races within a D&D game.   Its often a notable question in a lot of D&D games - how do we make races matter?    How do we treat them as someone that's not just interchangable with a human?    Its a bit lengthy, but I think its pretty cool.

D&D author talks about their take on the Blood War, and how devils can be seen as something that's not directly interchangable with demons.   This is actually a pretty good inspiration for those of who want to have trouble seeing fiend warlocks and their Patron as something not driven by human sacrifice.   I think it can also provide some good inspiration for the Zhent faction in AL.  Be warned, if you're a huge fan of Planescape and how its cosmolgy works, you probably won't like it.

Definitely a good read. I think it’s important to look at the culture, mindset, and biology of the different races, to really make characters come to life beyond just the statistical bonuses they get. A dwarf is more than just a short human with a beard and a Scottish accent.

Erin is very good at portrayals of some of the "different" characters.  I can only assume she knows some big guys, based on how Mehen acts in the "human" world.  How careful and almost dainty he often is, without making a big deal over it.
