@IvanCortez_ : if A monk uses 2 handed quarterstaff does it still use +dex, +prof for hit and +dex for damage?
@mikemearls  : yes

@bbarlach : can a creature move thorough a proned enemy?
@mikemearls  : yes

@plibbs : Why does a wild shaped druid get the beast’s Hit Dice? Can they be spent at the end of a short rest?
@mikemearls  : yes
@plibbs : Since elementals don’t require sleep, could lvl 10 Moon Druid stay in elemental form during a long rest without sleeping?
@mikemearls : yes - would still need to be inactive to get long rest benefits

@plibbs : How hard is it for a PC to get a tuning fork for Plane Shift? Can they be crafted easily? (eg make one to return to a demiplane)
@mikemearls : dm call really - how commonplace is such travel in a campaign world?

@danielceagle : Does Warlock's "Awakened Mind" power allow PC to create singing or music in the mind of another, or only words and phrases?
@mikemearls : just words or phrases

@ItsZagur : can a player delay their initiative to extend an effect that ends at the begging of their turn? Thanks
@mikemearls : Nope - there is no delay action in 5th edition precisely to stop such shennanigans.

@htx_copeland84 : does defensive fighting style stack with unarmored defenses?  if no, what if they are wearing a shield? ie: shields count?
@mikemearls : nope - armor is separate from shield, and unarmored defenses do not count

@magalor42 : witchbolt+spellsniper. does the range you must stay within to keep the spell connected to a creature increase or is it constant?
@mikemearls : it increases, because in this case WB specifically refers to range and not to a static number

@TadenRif : a monk kicking and shoving a creature by sweeping its legs does get his bonus unarmed strike ?
@mikemearls : yes - that replaces one of your attacks

So...? Mike Mearls is offically not the "rules guy", so those are merely his rulings, as apposed to the actual rules.

Other than that, most/all of that is already covered by errata/sage advice.

@PMRenault can an incapacitated pc take a bonus action? Ex: fighter at 0hp taking second wind?
@JeremyECrawford : "Anything that deprives you of your ability to take actions also prevents you from taking a bonus action" (PH, 189).

@misterkoshev : Is it possible to take a Dodge Action and a Bonus Action (for using a spell already cast) in the same turn?
‏@JeremyECrawford : Yes. Nothing in the Dodge rule or the bonus action rule prevents you from doing both on the same turn.

@LordCyler :Can you confirm/deny that the extra damage from Hex only applies if there is an attack roll?

@JeremyECrawford The extra damage in the hex spell requires an attack that hits, which is normally achieved with an attack roll.

‏@GrumblinGrandpa is there a section of the PH or DMG that handles damage reduction? Can attacks be reduced to zero? Or is the minimum one?

@JeremyECrawford There is no damage minimum in the rules, so it is possible to deal 0 damage.

@JesterPunch Does the movement from a dragons Wing Attack legendary action draw attacks of opportunity if it moves out of reach?

@JeremyECrawford  Nothing in Wing Attack protects the dragon from opportunity attacks. Jeremy Crawford heeft toegevoegd,

@pickled_pisces probably get this a lot but can a rogue get sneak attack damage against undead as long as it meets all requirements?

@JeremyECrawford Yep, Sneak Attack works against undead. Jeremy

@Revenant_Fury Metamagic rules state you can't use multiple Metamagic options on a single spell. Can you use one option, multiple times?

@JeremyECrawford  The intent is that a sorcerer can use a Metamagic option once with a spell, not the same option more than once.

@JesterPunch would an elf get a saving throw vs a Philter of Love as it's charm? The desc implies there is no save?

‏@JeremyECrawford There is no save against the philter of love. The love is just that strong.

‏@zolt4r Multiclass (monk/battlmstr): can I apply on the same attack Monk’s Stunning Strike + Martial Adept’s Trip Attack?

@JeremyECrawford  You sure can! Jeremy Crawford heeft toegevoegd,

@KarlDotenswine  For readying a spell or other action, does  the target have to be in range?
‏@JeremyECrawford : The intent is that your target must be within range when you take the readied action, not when you first ready it. Jeremy

@DackeStaffan Do spells that deal physical damage count as magical for the purposes of resistances? E.g. Cloud of Daggers vs Deva.
@JeremyECrawford Regardless of damage type, the direct damage of a spell is magical.

@DireTribble is it possible to Ready a spell w/ a casting time of 1 Bonus Action? Or only a spell w/ casting time of 1 Action?
@JeremyECrawford Only a spell with a casting time of 1 action

@BluesLight37 Do you feel that Wizards lack a bit in class options outside of their school?
‏@JeremyECrawford Wizards have more spell options than any other class. We consider that one of their main class features.

@Boxvoko Regarding the Berserker's axe, when berserking is triggered, can the player still use his move and bonus on his turn or no?

@JeremyECrawford The berserker axe doesn't prevent a bonus action, and you can move freely if you fulfill the attack requirement.

@andriecycle Can a rogue use evasion if he is surprised? The rule states that "If you’re surprised, you can’t move or take an action..."

@JeremyECrawford  A surprised rogue can use Evasion, since that feature doesn't require the rogue to take an action or move somewhere.

@jackAbrasion bThe rule on surprise addresses movement, actions, and reactions, but bonus actions aren't mentioned. Is this intentional?
‏@JeremyECrawford "Anything that deprives you of your ability to take actions also prevents you from taking a bonus action" (PH, 189).

@TadenRif target at range caught in a melee combat, does the target get some kind of cover or do I get disadvantage ?
@JeremyECrawford  Your target has half-cover if another creature is between you and the target (PH, 196).

@jkat718 Dungeon Dressing, Table 7 (Utensils and Personal Items) is missing entry 89. Recommendations for a replacement?
‏@JeremyECrawford  Rolling 89 or 90 on that DMG table should result in a vase.

@Joncarrollwrite can an attack of opportunity be used to make a grapple or a shove?

@JeremyECrawford Grappling/shoving are part of the Attack action (PH, 195). Take the Ready action to grapple/shove outside your turn.

@bbarlach can a creature move thorough a proned enemy?
@JeremyECrawford Being prone doesn't turn you into a rug, but others can make a long jump over you pretty easily.
@bbarlach  Thanks! What about unconscious enemies? Would that be a difficult terrain, at least?

@JeremyECrawford  The space of another creature is always difficult terrain (PH, 190). Many DMs let people walk over the unconscious.

@maxximenez A monster is immune to damage from nonmagical bludgeoning weapons. Does he still take damage from falling?
@JeremyECrawford Yep, that monster is still going to feel the hurt of a fall. Jeremy Crawford heeft toegevoegd,

@kam2112 does a barbarian add his rage bonus damage to an offhand attack?

‏@JeremyECrawford Yep!

@gaaran00b : I heard from a friend that Bladelocks can make ranged weapons. Is that true?

@JeremyECrawford  Pact of the Blade lets you make a melee weapon (PH, 107).

@KrisKoletar Does a "melee spell attack" count as a "melee attack" for Touch of Death (i.e. Spiritual Weapon)?

@JeremyECrawford A melee spell attack is, indeed, a melee attack and can qualify for the Death cleric's Touch of Death feature

@thestalkingwolf Why are the new rules so concerned about the pace of the game isnt that set by the players? Maybe they like a slower play?
@JeremyECrawford Pace is, indeed, set by each group. In play, it's easier to slow down a lean system than to speed up a bloated one.

‏@ApocalypticTwit What specifically does "Melee Weapon Attack" mean: A melee attack with a weapon, or an attack with a melee weapon?

@JeremyECrawford A melee weapon attack is a melee attack with a weapon.

@Tavicz And does "Ranged Weapon Attack" mean a ranged attack with a weapon, or an attack with a ranged weapon?

@JeremyECrawford A ranged weapon attack is a ranged attack with a weapon. The other would be a ranged-weapon attack.

@blackwarder can a minor illusion move? For example a wall sliding down a corridor?
@JeremyECrawford An illusory object created by minor illusion doesn't move. Compare to spells like mislead that talk about moving.

@Strill_ Rules Contradiction: PHB p.192 says that p.195 lists benefits to using the Hide Action. p.195 lists no such benefits.
@JeremyECrawford If you hide, you are the unseen attacker and target in the "Unseen Attackers and Targets" section.

Well, I'd say an exception is what lets you violate the rule. But if it sounds better to say "you are making use of an exception to the rule" instead, you can just pretend that's what I said

‏@JeremyECrawford  No, since cantrips don't use spell slots.

@Lord_Sicarious Does using a bonus action break invisibility from a Warlock's "One With Shadows" invocation?

@JeremyECrawford Yes, taking a bonus action breaks the invisibility of a warlock's One with Shadows.

@ToppoKai Is a vampire affected by Hold Person? Not really sure in our group.

@JeremyCrawford A vampire has the undead creature type, not the humanoid type, so it isn't affected by the hold person spell. Jeremy

@lordfireguy If a monster uses an attack that uses dexterity bonuses, does it count as a finesse weapon?

@JeremyECrawford  A weapon doesn't have the finesse property unless its description says so. Using Dex. doesn't mean finesse.

@_Matafer If a druid picks magic initiate and chooses detect magic as his one SPD. Can he still ritual cast the spell for free?

@JeremyECrawford A druid's Ritual Casting requires a ritual to be prepared. The spell from Magic Initiate is known but not prepared.

@Shippendale In your opinion, could a wizard that's tied up (but not gagged) cast Misty Step to free himself? Up to DM?

@alvintylaw can the extra action granted by Haste be used to activate a magic item?

@JeremyECrawford  No. Activating a magic item isn't a function of the Use an Object action (DMG, 141).

@Tavicz Wiz cast phantas. force on HillGiant saying "I want to make it think it is in total darkness" It was blinded until save.OK?

@JeremyECrawford As DM, I'd require the caster to describe an illusory visible phenomenon that douses the light.

@Tavicz 1 more question: Can be the effect of phantasmal force a bag on the target's head which is moving with the target?
@JeremyECrawford Yes, assuming the illusory bag can fit in a 10-foot cube.

@maialideth How does the Leadership ability work? Is it 1 time or 1 pr round or all allies' actions for 1 minute?
‏@JeremyECrawford A creature turns on Leadership as an action. Then it can grant a die whenever a visible ally in range attacks/saves.

Speaking of that, has anyone ever asked if phantasmal force can restrain the target in a phantasmal web? (Or an adamantite box of acid, etc.) Or if that bag on their head could suffocate them? That's been the crux of all the discussions I've seen about that spell.

‏@nadaval6 if naga deals 6 P & 20 poison dmg. fighter use parry and has resis to poison. dmg reduction from poison or piercing?

@JeremyECrawford Parry doesn't say how to deal with different damage types, so I'd let the player decide how to apply the reduction.

@nadaval6 1.you take falling dmg from the high jump? 2.a rogue jumps from 10 feet fence take falling dmg?
‏@JeremyECrawford  In such a circumstance, I'd consider a fall to be a drop that exceeds the distance of the jump.

@SalmonSquire Following up on yesterday. So Find steed steed can attack on your turn? What about not mounted? Forums are abuzz.

@JeremyECrawford While ridden, the steed follows the normal mounted combat rules (PH, 198). Unridden, it has normal action options.

@slightmisplay divine smite doesn't seem to cost an action or bonus, so can my Pally use this and cast Hunter's Mark in the same turn?

@Yosh0092 Can a creature enter the space an ally occupies and attack an enemy, as long as he ends his turn in unoccupied space?

@JeremyECrawford The intent is that you can't willingly end your move—any part of it—in another creature's space (PH, 191).

@TadenRif A web fills a 20-foot cube, but is 5 feet high when put on a flat surface... then fills a 40-foot square ?

@ReubenFontana Is there an intended way to get lost Intelligence back after an intellect devourer zeroes it? The MM doesn't say how.
‏@JeremyECrawford The greater restoration spell can remove the reduction to an ability score.

@JeremySoard If disintegrate's damage reduces a half-orc to 0 hp, but doesn't kill outright, can their racial RE prevent turning to ash?
@JeremyECrawford  If disintegrate reduces you to 0 hp, you're disintegrated. That's a prime example of being killed outright.

@JeremyECrawford The spells that a monk casts with Shadow Arts can be dispelled.

@JeremyECrawford Darts have no special rule that makes them work with two-weapon fighting.

@JeremyECrawford If your level of exhaustion is reduced, you no longer suffer the effect of any level that was removed.
