I was wondering how you would build a sun sorcerer in 5E? I am kind of thinking of Sadira from Darksun. I have had a few thoughts on the matter. Sun Sorcerer= radiant type spells.

1. Favoured Soul with the Light Domain. No bonus damage biut a lot more spells known and you get a buit of melee or ranged atttacks. More fire based.

2. Somehting like the Fire Dragon Sorcerer, but a lack of radiant spells in the game.

3. Something like the Storm Sorcerer with a few spells borrowed from the cleric spell lists. Guiding bolt comes to mind, flaming sphere, fireball. Spells that deal radiant damage and spherical fire spells.

IMO:

1:  You gain the light and sacred flame cantrips and (insert light / radiant spells here).

Radiant and fire spells deal extra damage equal to your Cha modifier if the target is in sunlight.

6: As an action you can spend 1SP to shed light in 60' for 1 hour.  This light is sunlight.

14: When you are shining, any enemy within 5' of you is blinded.

18: Any light you create shines for twice the distance.  Radiant spells have twice the range.

What's the fluff?  How is the sun part of your bloodline?

Seems to me that should be figured out first, as it will inform the mechanics.

THe bloodline might be the blood of Apollo or Ra something like that. Might be several generations removed of course.

No, it would be OP and break the game next month.

In non-predicitve news: Sun=Light. Done. Light Cleric or Light Favoured Soul.

Sadira in particular is a tough case, since she didn't really follow the rules of any edition.  She was a wizard who just became something else.

That being said, I would run with Yunru's idea, in particular the LIght Favored Soul.  The description of the class variant describes being "touched" or "chosen" by a god; this could easily account for Sadira's transformation.  I would keep the class's magic arcane instead of divine, remove the wings at 14th level (keep the flight though), and call it a day.
