TLDR: Mystic is on the right path, but the class needs more flexibility. |

| #4MechatarrasqueSep 11, 2015 13:20:25 | I really like the idea of concentration being an additive measure. That would be interesting.
I will say it again, I think it would have been better to develop psychic rules independent of the mystic class, which is a sorcerer-level complexity class. There is a reason why Eldritch Knight and Arcane Spell Thief borrow from wizard instead of sorcerer, and it isn't because of the larger spell list........Don't get me wrong, I am fine with a psi point using class, but it shouldn't have been the default. |
| #5YunruSep 11, 2015 13:26:40 | What a **** survey so far. Page one: did you attend gencon. No. Page two: stuff about gencon. Whut? |

| #7YunruSep 11, 2015 13:33:57 | I liked the "what books" stuff, but even then it felt kinda light on substance. |
| #8shintashiSep 11, 2015 15:28:46 | Melee Mystics i am glad they addressed the issue of the various melee psionic powers. Ideally, a psionicist burns through 25-50% of their PSPs to produce simultaneously the following effects over 1 minute: 1. initiative 2. AC 3. extra attacks 4. damage/attack bonuses
after a couple of minutes, the Psionic character following this melee combat path will be largely burned out, and have to take a short or long rest.
What the original version did was let us pick one we could be sure about, and the other 3 were muddled in weird rules or completely inaccessible.
multi Concentration I think the Psionic class should be the one that introduces mechanisms for concentrating on second or third effects. They could have the same progression that Fighters do with extra attacks. 20th is 4 effects, 11th is 3 effects, 5th is 2 effects, 1st-4th is normal concentration.
I put this out there so that dipping into Psionic classes doesn't secure double concentration for people who can cast 9th level spells. This way the Psionic mind is sort of like, the Fighter Multiple attack effect.
this mechanic would also solve the inter-disciplinary function problem.
Mind thrust Mystics As to the Mental Attack vs. Intelligence as AC, this is what i think:
if you have an open mind, this makes sense. Killing Dinosaurs and Dumb Giants with Psionics has always been a tradition in the old mechanics and even the paintings. But i think they need a Closed Mind function. Anyone who takes a Feat "closed mind" or has the intelligence Saving throw as a class ability, should get either a saving throw for half damage, or get an enhanced mental Armor Class, possibly both.
Actually, i like this mechanic quite well.
0. if your mind is closed, you can intelligence save for half, else you take normal damage if hit 1. If you have intelligence saves, your mind is closed, you can save for half damage 2. if you have the Closed Mind Feat, your mind is considered closed and you can use your reaction to add your Proficiency Modifer to your Mental AC. 3. If you are Resistant to Psychic Damage, you are automatically considered to have to closed mind.
This allows the Resilient Feat to play an extra role, introduces a new feat, and provides special defenses for the following classes by default: Druid Rogue Wizard Warlock (Old Ones)

| #9EthanSentalSep 11, 2015 18:16:23 | why the surprise about the GenCon questions? it dominated the various forums, for good or bad for the weekend of GenCon and the following couple of weeks as people vented that were frustated by it. Let WoTC see if all the public lambasting that was put out matches what people think a month after.
Past those 2 questions, I thought the questions about adventure types were good and it gives people that have been wanting the 32 page adventures an avenue to let WoTC know what they want and we'll see the results and if it proves many people really want it (or just a vocal few) and if WoTC delivers. |
| #10Brock_LandersSep 11, 2015 21:35:02 | My feedback was not caring about Gencon (really, I do not give a toss, played this game for over 25 years, have never had a desire to attend), not to flood 5th Ed with splat-books (like The Complete Gnome Cobblers Handbook, etc), and to stick to adventures, and campaign settings. Oh, and more monsters (though, at this point, I have converted pretty much every previous edition monster I dig). |

| #16shintashiSep 12, 2015 12:33:27 | Gen Con will never be worth it for people who live more than a thousand miles away - not unless you are expecting like a family reunion level event when you arrive, free food, room, board, and so on. But i saw this lady on a documentary about conventions, and for some people, its their one opportunity to interact with human life outside the internet.
I've been to conventions where you could get prizes. I've been to cons where you could sell characters for like, 25-50 cents a level. I've won a couple of things, like books and shirts, but Gen Con is more of a caricature of itself rather than a convention i desperately must attend. For my thousand dollars in hotel and plane tickets, what am I getting? Apparently from what I saw of AL, more bills and nothing to show for it. Gen Con should spend more time trying to appeal to gamers and less time trying to appeal to fanboys. But the revenue stream pretends to dictate otherwise. Except... I've paid zero dollars to GenCon's fanboy themed revenue base, and only attended around 20-30 conventions.. I guess that means their revenue model is ideal, right? |
| #17TiaNadiezjaSep 12, 2015 12:49:36 | I'm glad they asked about GenCon so I could express my frustration with the focus on conventions in general, and GenCon in particular, in a forum that someone in charge will actually notice. |
| #18AaronOfBarbariaSep 12, 2015 13:23:07 | I'm glad they asked about GenCon so that I could say I think the approach of making opportunities for people to play D&D at a con rather than sit in panels about D&D is a good one, and mention that I'm personally never going to go to GenCon because it is too far away and costs too much (which might give WotC the idea to make a larger presence at other conventions too).
I'm also glad to have been directly asked which of the types of products they seem to be thinking of making I'm actually likely to spend money on so that I could clearly indicate to them what is likely to get my money - namely more monsters, a book dedicated to my favorite setting, and more adventures of any and all levels. |

| #20MechaPilotSep 12, 2015 15:01:19 | In my feedback I wrote off the GenCon questions. I'm too shy to go to conventions, so I really couldn't care less about them.
I did say that I would definitely buy a 5e version of modern, as well as my favorite D&D settings. In the write-in box, I was specific about the things that I would definitely buy, and their order of importance to me:
1) A book that details the use of monsters such as medusas, dragons, mind flayers, etc. as PC races. 2) A 5e version of D20 Modern/Past/Future. 3) My favorite D&D settings, in the order of Ravenloft, Spelljammer, and Planescape.
Numbers 2 and 3 would have been tied for me if I didn't still have my 3e Ravenloft books and my 2e Planescape books. |

| #27MistwellSep 12, 2015 21:03:12 | Gencon is awesome. There is a reason they sell out every year, quickly.
They should have at least one panel at GenCon where they make new announcements, the panel should be filmed by them, and broadcast on this site, for those not there to see. |
| #28ZardnaarSep 12, 2015 22:23:26 | Voted heavily for an update on a setting book and other LMoP type adventures. Left th following as a write in.
I would like to see updates (even as a 1 off) for various TSR settings and 1 book on monsters and a PC option type book like the 1E Unearthed Arcana.
Basicaly rather than have 1 book devoted to spells or classes or whatever have 1 book with a bit of variety in it. SOMe spells, a new class or 3 etc.

| #29ssvegeta555Sep 13, 2015 6:16:16 | Splats, Settings, and Smaller modules (S.S.Sm.???) Anyhow, that's what I focused on for this survey. I just want those three, but mainly Planescape!!! |

| #31AaronOfBarbariaSep 13, 2015 14:22:53 | I think the most important thing about any anouncements WotC needs to make is that they not have to fit said announcements to someone else's schedule - they should use an avenue for all anouncements that allows them to announce what they want, when they are ready to.
Setting up a panel at GenCon that is for them to announce things would either A) result in them not actually having announcements to make because they aren't making announcements when they aren't ready or B) result in announcements being delayed, potentially for months, and in announcements being made in the form of chickens counted before the eggs have hatched. Both outcomes are unpleasant to someone, and the later is basically what WotC has been trying to avoid with their strategy of remaining silent until the right time and only talking up the next big thing rather than a whole line of things coming out soon-ish. |

I didn’t go to this year’s Gen Con, but did attend last years. Wizards’ big Tyranny of Dragons presence really contributed to making it a memorable con.
I am a little surprised that the Awakened Mystic was rated so highly. |

| #38Azzy1974Sep 15, 2015 12:19:55 | Me, I didn't comment on GenCon. Never been, likely never will (unfortunately).
As for products... More Monster Manuals is what I favored most. That, and a Greyhawk setting guide... Though I specified in the comments section that, I'd prefer one that's an intorductory guide that caters to players new to the setting, giving them only what they need to know about the setting (brief and concise overviews of history, nations, races, ethnicities, dieties, major geographic features, popular lore, etc.) and making characters that fit the setting, al the while not providing an overload of information that wil make their eyes glaze over and really isn't needed (such information overload should be relegated to a later, DM-focused product).
Beyond that, I said I was fine with them continuing with their mega-adventures as long as the also produced shorter adventures that were easier to plug in an existing campaign (mike a lot of the older modules). Also, new polayer content is fine as long as it is released in a far slower pace than what was released in previous editions, and if they need to pad the release schedule to do things like campaign settings, Monster Manuals, Deities & Demigods, etc. instead. |
