Hey guys

I was looking through my old 2e books from when I was a kid being taught the game by my grandad and I was struck by a thought of just how much 5e reminds me of those times. 5e brings back all of the feelings and memories of 2e for me but does so in more streamlined system that is so much fun to play.

so I would just like to say thank you to wizards of the coast for creating my favourite edition to date! I hope it will last for many years to come.

the other thing I would like to address is the community on these forums. While lurking in other forums I have heard some very negative things about this site but this doesn't mirror my experience. In my short time on these forums people have been nothing but polite helpful and courteous to me and I just want to thank all of you for being awesome.

anyway that's the end of my ramble, happy gaming everyone

Edit: sorry if I made a lot of grammatical mistakes or if there is an issue with the formatting my sleep schedule has been destroyed because I have been mostly nocturnal in order to get access to certain equipment at work and returning to normal is warping my brain

I second your sentiments... While I remain a fan of 4e, I don't really consider it as a 'traditional' version of D&D... and as such... I don't find it useful to compare 4e to other editions of D&D.

With the release of 5th ed, WotC (for me and in my SUBJECTIVE opinion) has created the best version of traditional D&D to date. Not only that, but for me..., it outshines any other 'Fantasy RPG' system either in print or out of print.

Excellent balance of 'old and new'... enough of the old school feel... but ALSO enough new concepts to keep 5th ed from being just a d20 version of 2nd.

The more I play it... the better I like it... and that's one important measure of a great game.
