Acolyte has the spells of a first level cleric, but no other abilities and no armor. Acolyte is rated as Challenge 1/4
Priest has the spells of a 5th level cleric, an ability that is sort of similiar to priest domain abilities, and 5d8 hit dice. Priest is rated as Challenge 2 |
| #3BrianD2Dec 17, 2014 18:08:45 | The guidelines from the "Monster Statistics by Challenge Rating" table on page 274 of the Dungeon Master's Guide seem like they'd work just as well for estimating a character built as a PC as they would for a monster.
Some adjustments could be done by comparing class features to the abilities listed in the "Monster Features" table on pages 280-281. A 1st level fighter, for example, would have about +6 effective hp from Second Wind and something like either a +2 effective attack bonus, +2 effective damage, or +1 effective AC from their chosen Fighting Style. |
