[Lost Mine of Phandelver]

The Wave Echo Cave is famous for its Forge of Spells, a special forge where magic items could be crafted. In the LMoP adventure, it says the forge is mostly inactive....but that's boring!

In this thread we talk about the Forge of Spells, Wave Echo Cave, and how to spice up this part of the story. What does it do, now, after all these years? Clearly a magic item factory is a bit too powerful, but I think something is needed. Discuss!

The Forge of Spells, after being repaired and reactivated, becomes self-aware. That's when it teaches Gundren Rockseeker how to build a warforged -

A warforged that kills Gundren and takes over the mine then starts making more warforged until...

JUDGMENT DAY!

I would maybe let PCs use it to create magic items if one is using AD&D magic itemn creation rules. THe forge substitutes for the spellcaster, the PCs still have to quest for the power compOnents of the magic items.

I think it should be a ancient arcane factory where magical ammo is created.

This ammo is known throughout the universe as "Spell Slots".

I have to admit when I first read about the Forge of Spells, I pictured something more like the Anvil of the Void from Dragon Age: Origins. As a result, the actual forge was rather underwhelming.

The Anvil of the Void:
