This post has been edited to reflect updates to the game.

I've put together a one-shot D&D 5e game for Saturday, August 8th & 15th, at 3 pm Eastern on Roll20. I'm looking for some additional players!

This will be a Greek-themed adventure based on the Twelve Labors of Hercules. The characters will start at 5th level and may go up to 8th level by the end. I expect the game to last no longer than 6 hours for two 3-hour sessions or thereabouts. I won't have time to make pre-gens for everyone, so you'll be on the hook to make your own character. Anything is fine as long as it fits the theme well and you'll have normal starting equipment plus 500 gp. Any race, feats, etc. are all good. Standard array or point buy and average hit points.

I currently have two four players: freudpimp, Delazar78, KelvanNailo, and Simon O. (Roll20 name). I'd like to have two additional players signed up as soon as possible, plus two more to serve as alternates in case someone has to drop prior to game-time. We've got Pyromantic and maceo00 down as alternates. Experience with D&D 5e and Roll20 is a plus. Session Zero, character bonds, and other pre-game stuff will be handled in the campaign forums so that we can start in the action when it's time to play.

Lurkers during the game are also welcome. If you are interested in lurking during the game, please PM me or post in this thread. If you have any questions about the game, please post them here so I can answer them for others to read. I will post additional details as I work on this scenario (teasers and such).

You can count on this adventure to be as epic as the stories of old and to be very challenging. Bring your A-game and expect to have fun and contribute to an exciting, memorable story!

I wish I could join! That sounds like fun. Unfortunately, that'd be 7am to 1pm on Sunday for me. I don't think I'd be able to swing that.

I was keen but I think that time conflicts with my Europa Unversalis grand campaign (20 player EUIV campaign). If the time frame works out I will just play whatever the party needs with a preference towards a light cleric, favored soul, monk or some sort of bard.

Shame you can't make it, pukunui. Zard, let me know when you know... I'd like to have some folks from your side of the world in the game. Right now we've got Canada, Italy, and USA representin'.

I'm interested in playing and the time frame should be fine for me.  Played a fair bit of 5E, including some games on Roll20.

(And I'd be doubling up the Canadians )

Currently the party consists of:

Melpo, a "satyr" lightfoot halfling bard 5

Otos Primo, a human fighter (battlemaster) 5

Thalassa, a "nymph" water genasi druid 5

Theseus, a human cleric (war) 5

Their labors are as follows:

  • Slay the Nemean Lion.
  • Slay the nine-headed Lernaean Hydra.
  • Capture the Ceryneian Hind.
  • Capture the Erymanthian Boar.
  • Clean the Augean stables in a single day.
  • Slay the Stymphalian Birds.
  • Capture the Cretan Bull.
  • Steal the Mares of Diomedes.
  • Obtain the girdle of Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons.
  • Obtain the cattle of the monster Geryon.
  • Steal the apples of the Hesperides.
  • Capture and bring back Cerberus.

They can do these in any order and have a total of 6 hours of real time to do as many as they can. For every four labors successfully completed, they gain a level. Resting is a little more abstracted with the benefits of a short rest occuring after each labor and the benefits of a long rest after four labors (successful or not).

How do you think they'll do?

Iserith,

Please post something we can read after you're done.  I'm going to be away from computer all that weekend.  -sigh-

The concept sounds really fun, especially since my daughter just got into the Percy Jackson (Greek myths in modern time) novels.

Come to think of it, if WotC ever updates Faiths and Pantheons, you might be able to turn this into something sell-able...

Awe, no text chat? I won't be able to read the transcripts.

Edit: by read I mean feed it into my TTS program cause I'm lazy.

Session 2 is this Saturday, 3 pm till 6 pm (ish) Eastern. With three labors successfully completed, they only need to do one more to level up. So what will it be? Will they try to capture the Erymanthan boar? Slay the Stymphalian birds? Or are they feeling lucky and want to go after the Lernean Hydra?

In this session, the heroes:

... performed music for the merfolk to make it to the Garden of the Hesperides, then convinced the serpent Lagon to give them 5 apples of wisdom and immortality.

... defeated the Lernean Hydra - which had nine heads at one point - and the giant crab sent by Hera herself.

... turned Cerberus from foe to ally by splashing it in the River Styx and befriending it.

Plus a cliffhanger ending and twist in which Thallassa gives her companions to Hades in exchange for Cerberus after Otos Primo ate the last of the apples and regained his youth.
