With the release of 5th edition and the Sundering, and the fact it takes place roughly 100 years after the last incarnation of the game, would it be reasonable that there will be a updated version of the Grand History of the Realms Sourcebook put out?

Also with Forgotten Realms being the core world for 5th, will there be a Map of post Sunder Faerun in any of the core books coming out, or will this be something that we have to wait for in like a Forgotten Realms Campaign book?

Any information is greatly appreciated

My guess: these things sell for money, so these things will exist. I'd count on them following the example of 3E's Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting (specifically in regards to including a map of the Realms).

I've not seen much about release dates or planned content really, apart from snippets here and there that Ed lets slip occasionally (which isn't much).

Ed Greenwood was brought back for the development of 5e. He has been working on the new realms for months if not years. You can bet there will be a book or boxed set to re introduce the realms and fix the terrible mess they made of it in 4e. I enjoyed 4e alot but they ruined the realms and I found myself digging out previous editions when it came to realms lore.

I don't think there will be a map of Faerun in any of the core books. Daggerford is going to be included in the DMG as the example town, but I'm guessing there will only be a map of the town, with maybe a map of the surrounding section of the Sword Coast as well (like how the 4e DMG has a detailed map of Fallcrest and a map of the Nentir Vale).

It seems like the adventures are just going to focus on sections of the Realms ~ eg. Murder in Baldur's Gate details Baldur's Gate; Legacy of the Crystal Shard details Ten Towns and Icewind Dale; Scourge of the Sword Coast details Daggerford and the surrounding area; Lost Mine of Phandelver details the area around Phandalin. The Tyranny of Dragons adventure path will most likely cover more area, although I think it will still mostly be confined to the Sword Coast region.

A rerelease of Grand History of the Realms seems unlikely at this point. We'll most likely just get a campaign sourcebook next year. However, this is all speculation as WotC is remaining tight-lipped about settings. About the only thing they've said so far is that the current crop of adventures take place in the Realms, in order for them to have a place in which to exist, while the DMG will use FR for examples and the like (whereas the PHB will use FR as one of several examples).

Let's see what get announced at GenCon.  But, I do want to find a copy of that book.  I don't think the 3.5 edition is even on Drive Through RPG!
