| #1Devils-AdvocateSep 06, 2014 8:50:06 | So the purpose of this post is twofold. First of all, I wanted to get some clarification on how weapons with a "damage die" of multiple dice, like the 2d6 greatsword, interact with reroll abilities like great weapon fighting. If my great weapon fighter uses a greatsword, and I roll a total of 4 - 3 on one d6 and 1 on the other, do I get to reroll, since one die came up a 1? Do I re-roll both dice, or just the one that came up a 1? Or do I have to get a 1 on each die for a total of 2 to reroll?
Second, I would like to see more weapons with multiple damage dice. 2d4 as a slight upgrade on d8 weapons, or 3d4 to further improve on the 2d6 weapons, that kind of thing. If I were to houserule more MDD weapons into my game, would it break in ways I'm not seeing? Obviously the hypothetical 3d4 weapon would be very strong with great weapon fighting if each die gets re-rolled individually, but assuming I find a way to balance that with some other disadvantage, is there any other reason not to include such weapons? |
