What class options can we expect to see in the future?

I'm seeing people talk about the PHB having additional options in it.  The way they talk it sounds like they are expecting more than just new Subclasses and Feats.  I really was hoping to see some options built into the classes in much the same way the 3x Rogue was done.  The list of special abilities was so overwhelming as 4e to pick from but it did give people some choices and allowed for additional content.  Will we see something like this?  If not in the PHB then what about "Advanced"  is that still planned?

I always liked the concept of Kits in 2e.  The way 5e is looking I think Kits would be a great idea to bring back.  Who else out there liked Kits and would like to see them return?

Barbarian, bard, druid, monk, paladin, ranger, sorcerer, and warlock are expected to be in the PHB. There are expected to be at least two subclasses each, including fighter maneuver subclass(es). There will also be more backgrounds with information about creating additional backgrounds.

I hope we see alternate/swapable class features, like those from Player's Handbook II (for v3.5).  There were others in Complete Mage as I recall (my buddies PC used one --armored mage I believe?)  Also racial substitution levels (from Planar Handbook and others?)

I'd like to see more of that sorta thing.

Tony - Overwelming was a word I used because I found creating my own stuff in 4e a challenge.  Honestly simply playing a class certanly wasn't.  So the advanced is meant more like PHB2 or similar where we get more new classes and ect.

How do people veiw the "Kits" then?  or would people like the options for switching out second wind for example with something else?

I think Kits would be a great idea. I think having all the options for the class put in it would be great. Imagine picking up a book on the Fighter that all the options for it, brawler, spear person, swordsman etc.

Backgrounds and archetypes seem to cover what kits did already, IMO.

As long as a Sha'ir can somehow work in there is what I really care about.
