What Happened to Legends & Lore?

The big question. Mearls has fallen silent. Not even a "This is the final article" article.

Have we lost Legends & Lore now? Has it joined Wandering Monster, Dragon's Eye View, DM's Experience, Confessions of a Full-Time Wizard and the like?

This is a little annoying as they started the articles ostensibly to get back in touch with the fanbase, while also guaging our responses to planning the new edition. The idea of weekly blogs, new updates, and discussion topics for the forums very much still has a place in the game, even with the new edition out.

If the articles all stop now they really do just feel like hype, an empty advertising tool.

Really, without daily or bi-daily articles why even visit the WotC website? If there's no reason to visit, people won't see new excerpts or hear of new announcements.

There's so much else they could talk about.

How goes work on the DMG?

Any new about the Elemental Evil campaign?

The plan for accessories in this edition.

The response to the edition so far. Links to reviews. Comments on the sales figures.

Sage Advice. Errata or rules clarifications.

And update on Basic and thoughts on why certain monsters (i.e. so many animals) were included while others were not.

The plan for fan sites and content.

And so many more...

And what about a return of the Mike Mearls Tweet, version 75 thread?

He could also be on holiday, even in the USA you get 2 weeks minimum right?

He is actually on vacation this week (he tweeted as much a few days ago).

The last Legends & Lore was on August 11th, right before GenCon and the official PHB release.  Exactly one month ago, in fact.  I suspect with GenCon, PAX and the PHB release, he's just been too busy, and that it will return when he does.

Or, Mearls L&L column could be part of the "draw" for a re-launched Dragon Magazine and they don't want to keep giving it away.

It seems to be that ever since they gave us the WIndows 8 Website upgrade that they have had very little in the way of articles for us to read.   We also don't have any way of commenting on the articles.  We either have to come to these forums where noone reads these threads except other info starved players or we have to go to twitter or facebook and feel like we are telling the world our business.

It just feels like to me they used the website change to also change their stance on what to tell us and don't really care about feedback anymore.

"Sorry, but this is not a good justification.  Mandatory vacation exists in other countries for a reason. With no protection, those on the lower end of the "totem pole" will be subjected to ever-increasing levels of exploitation and ever-decreasing bargaining power."

Yes, and then we can kill them, take their stuff, and level up,

That IS a big part of what D&D is about after all.

Adventurers are the ultimate entrepeneurs.

Questgivers are the ultimate venture capitalists.

And monsters are the target demographic!

Okay, necro-ing this thread.

In the past eight weeks, we've had two Legends & Lore articles. And one (the most recent) was just to tell us the DMG would be delayed.

A couple of those weeks were cons, and at least one (maybe two) was a vacation. So what's the excuse for the other four? I imagine the DMG keeps him busy, yes, but he managed to post pretty regularly while being busy with the MM and PHB.

He is doing what Lolth did. Expect a destroyed city and a new greater power.
