Since WotC forced the free options available online to shut down last week we have no easy online method for generating characters.

Then they'll consider what exactly they want the tools to accomplish once created. Deciding who they will want to create the system will take some time and negotiation after that, and then the developer will need some time to (1) research the rules, (2) apply the rules to a rough program, (3) test the program for bugs (this might be through beta testing and is something I suspect WotC will want to take some careful time on), and finally (4) fix the bugs before presenting a final product. Then, and only then, will WotC issue an announcement (likely at GenCON or some other major event) to tell us when it will be retailed. It could be another several months before they decide to declare it.
Patience, my friend, patience.
P.S. Shutting down the free options available might have been our first clue that they're finalizing the product and are getting ready to make an announcement. |
