So it was announced back in March that the conversion guides were on hold due to jury duty for 4 months. Just curious as to what the status of them is?

It was longer than that. It might have been at *least* 4 months, but as many as 6 or 8.

Even if the trial ended yesterday it would take some time to get into the groove of working, catch up on missed correspondances, be filled in on missed meetings, and catch-up on lots of work that isn't late.

The errata was held up by the jury duty thing, too, and we only just got the first bit of it the other week. The conversion guides are probably still a ways down on the priority list. To be honest, I haven't found that I really need any official conversion documents. Yeah, sure, it would be nice to know what the devs are thinking in terms of converting stuff, but let's get real: 5e was deliberately designed to be backwards compatible. Conversion is really easy.

We also partly have some conversion material.  Although the math was wrong, the UA article about changing who rolls can be used as a basis for converting spells, powers, and monster abilities; you just need to correct the math mistake.

This is roughly what I'm seeing. Its pretty crisp between 22-25 AD&D: 24-30 5th ed, it gets crunchy in the teens, and then is Crisp and Clean again for attributes below 12.

0-19. . . 0-19

the really big difference is the crunchy numbers above 20. There's roughly a 2:1 value converting from AD&D to 5th edition, thus a 25 Charisma in AD&D is a 30 Charisma in 5th edition. following the law of averages, subtract 1-2 hit points for every level in 5th edition.

double the damage values for all dragon breath weapons going from 5th to AD&D. Add their Con bonus +1 to their Armor Class, before converting to negatives. this wont get you a precise conversion but it will get you really close to something comfortable.

if something rolls d20s for hit points, divide its hit points by 3. If its a monster and rolls d12s, divide hit points by 2. If it rolls d10s, multiply by 2/3rds. If it rolls d8's, subtract the con bonus. This gets you very close to the feeling of AD&D hit points. Everything did more damage and had less hit points, kind of like cyberpunk.

+1-2 AD&D sword = +1 5e sword

+3-4 AD&D sword = +2 5e sword

+5-6 AD&D sword = +3 5e sword

Solar Aasimon: Solars used to be gods, the 5e solar is a "lost in translation" monster, probably best used for Planetar stats (in earlier editions they justified the suck stats by refering to the rules where you could make epic non suck versions, but that never made sense, there's a limited number of solars in 7 heavens and they can all fit inside one room). Following the forward/backward logic, the 5e solar aasimon should have something like 531 hit points, immunity to bashing, piercing, and slashing from anything short of a legendary magic weapon, be considered a 20th level sorcerer (with wish), a 20th level bard, and a 20th level Mystic. All their arrows are slaying arrows, and they have 4 attacks per round with a +3 magical vorpal version of the storm giant's great sword, that also dances...yeah, no fricken way, right? We are talking about a thing that could solo a tarrasque in round 1 and follow up taking out Tiamat in round 2.
