| #1OrcLordSep 08, 2014 0:08:48 | I was wondering if someone from WotC would be willing to advise why we don't get weekly previews for the up and coming pre-painted minis sets?
This was something I greatly enjoyed in the past when Peter Lee was looking after the minis. Erik Mona at Paizo has also followed suite and continues to reveal minis weekly.
It seems odd to me that WotC no longer does this. Many of the images that circulate on the Intranet are not photographed by professional standards, and accordingly they rarely do the minis justice. I'm curious why WotC does not see value in promoting and building hype for their pre-painted miniatures lines, like they did in the past?

WizKids has a liscensing agreement with WotC to produce D&D Minis. Unlike Paizo the miniatures are solely designed by WizKids and no paint masters are sent to WotC. It's entirely in house with WizKids. They do work with WotC- such as receiving Monster Manual art for the monsters to design the minis and themes to work on but WizKids owns this. Thus- they are the company responsible for previewing the minis- not WotC.

I mean, I did that for baseball cards at a buck a pack back in 1980, but $20 for half a dozen minis? That I might already have? |
| #8JDizzletonSep 14, 2014 11:18:16 | Once again... WOTC has nothing to do with the production, pricing or sales of the Icons of the Realms miniature set from WizKids.
As has been proven in the past, the business of producing pre-painted minis is highly dependent on the expensive molds and plastics needed to produce the models while turning a profit. The cost of the blind boxes is a reflection of that. |
