When the bankrupt Duke couldn't pay what he promised after you performed a great service at his request, he instead compensated you in land and title. Now you are barons in this barren fiefdom with your stronghold a luxuriant lake house and former holiday hideaway for the Duke and his family.

You have arrived at Golden Lake, a fishing village of 427 souls - including yourselves - a place of pilgrimage for its reputedly healing waters and hot springs. Only not all is well in this idyllic but drought-striken hamlet for some of the folk here - your folk now - have turned up dead, butchered like animals. As fear and panic grips Golden Lake, your first test as its new lords begins.

I am recruiting two players to join a text-based online game of D&D 5e which will start on January 2nd. I already have two players ready to go. The game will be on Thursday's weekly, 10 pm to midnight Eastern. Characters till start at 10th-level and the adventure scenario is based on a 3.0 module that involves town and dungeon challenges.

One of my goals in doing this game in a text format is to create an actual play transcript that can be used as an example of how to DM and play in this edition for use in future discussions on the forums or as a how-to guide for new DMs and players. (Or, hey, maybe what not to do sometimes as nobody is perfect!) As we play, I will be posting the transcript on the forums for anyone interested in reading it. The first transcript will be Session Zero to demonstrate how one is conducted.

Interested parties are encouraged to post here or contact me via PM for consideration. I am looking for people who will be good on attendance, fast at typing, have a decent level of system knowledge, and be proactive players ready to set and pursue character goals. Experience with Roll20 is a plus. If you have any questions, please post them here so that I don't have to keep answering the same questions via PM.

A limited amount of game observers will be welcome as well and we may use observers as alternates to fill in should a regular player not be able to make a session (if interested). I look forward to meeting my new victims, er uh, players!

Oh, I'd love to play. Unfortunately the time's no good for me ~ it'd be the middle of the afternoon on Friday here, and I'd have to leave in the middle to go pick up the kids from school. I'll just have to content myself with reading the transcripts.
