#1 Jimjams Aug 06, 2015 6:13:42	Hi guys and gals,  I'm currently running my group through the Grand Conjunction series of adventures and would like to know a few things as they are unclear in the modules. -Where are each of the lands in relation to each other in the series? -Do the natives of Ravenloft know it's "Ravenloft" or do they beleive they are just self contained communities? -who in the realms would know about the lords and the dark powers in order to help the PC's out?   Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Some know that it is the Demiplane of Dread. Noone calls it Ravenloft, that is just the name of Strahds castle. Most people dont really know the details of how things work and even if they do they might not realise that the world isnt supposed to work like it does. People drawn in from other worlds definetly know the place is wrong and wierd though.   -who in the realms would know about the lords and the dark powers in order to help the PC's out? There are definetly people who know what dark lords are and some about how they work. Usually bad people working for the darklords or the darklords themselves. There are researchers out there though that have pieced together some knowledge of them. If your looking for someone who knows about the dark lords and knows that ravenloft is a demiplane with unique rules I would consider getting them in touch with an Arcanist who has been studying the nature of the plane his entire life, travelling around it and using his divination magics to learn as much as he can. Might be he is even originally from somewhere else and has read about the Demiplane of Dread in other peoples research.
#3 Ravenspyre Sep 19, 2015 21:32:59	Before the Grand Conjuection the world was different. However, some rules remain constant. The Islands of Terror, which quite a number of the adventures take place on, have no real relation to any other land. They can relatively be anywhere you want to be. The power of Ravenloft is that if you need your adventurers to be in a swamp for the adventure, then you have the mechanics to deposit them there.   As far as natives, some scholars and most of the Dark Lords know they are on a demiplane. But they do not know its name. Most residents just refer to the land by its domain name. So if you are in Darkon, for instance, they will refer to the land as Darkon. They may have heard or even traveled to other lands, but they just typically refer to it by that lands name.   As in the previous statement, some scholars and dark lords know the situation. No one knows who the Dark Powers are, and at best those that might even have an inkling of knowledge just talk about the Dark Powers in whispers like a bogeyman.
