Hello everyone, I was going to DM the new 3.5 Ravenloft, and I need a way to get my players to Ravenloft. I will be having them run the adventure Night of the Walking Dead. I just need an adventure that gets them from around level 3 to around level 6.

No, I meant that my post was in the wrong thread. I had multiple threads open at once and thought I was posting in a different one. If I meant that your question was on the wrong board, I would have said "You might want to try asking on (other board.)"

You could use one of the classics, recommended when the original Ravenloft demi-plane was created - 2nd ed. maybe? Have the characters in a creepy area/adventure (howling wolves, creeping fog, scared villagers, mysterious lights on the moors, etc.) hunting down a mid-level undead creature. The wee beastie turns the tables on them and the hunters become the hunted. The undead and minions are chasing them at night... They seem to lose the bad guys in a fortuitous creeping fog bank only to emerge from the fog in Ravenloft... although they won't know that at the time.

I don't know what the writeup on Ravenloft is in 3.5 but back in the day Ravenloft was tentatively connected to our plane and stumbling into it was easy.

Hmm... how about this: zombies occasionally turn up. Not a lot of them, like one or two at a time, on average maybe once every month or two. No big deal, these zombies were originally level 1 commoners, so three guards (level 1 warriors) with longspears or some other reach weapon can take them out without even putting themselves at risk (three attacks, plus another three attacks from thier AoOs when the zombie moves the next round, means it's really easy to dispatch). The zombies don't really seem to DO much of anything, just sort of wander around and try to kill whatever they might run into, but since zombies are slow, very few things have died due to them.

Still, they're a nuisance, and lately they've been turning up more frequently (one or two a week). The PCs are hired to investigate the source, which turns out to be.... I dunno. Maybe an insane necromancer who beleives he's actually raising people from the dead completely, instead of only halfway, but he loses track of (or interest in) the zombies after a little while and they wander off. He'd be something like a level 5 wizard, with a say, half a dozen zombies around, whom he treats like friends and family.

The PCs have been hired to hunt down a werewolf that has attacked and killed several townspeople. They track the beast down to its home, a fog bound moor, only to find that it isn't a werewolf at all, it's an evil druid in wildshape on a crusade against the town. As the druid calls forth the horde of animals he planned to use to ambush the PCs, a thick fog boils up and around them, and suddenly, there is only the PCs, the druid, and his wolf companion in a landscape that is just a little bit... off.

When Ravenloft first appeared, it was written that the land itself could snatch up and take anyone it wanted and bring them into its plane of existence. While this was generally supposed to be used to import really evil characters and undead into the demi-plane, it has been used on occassion to bring in those characters who are so good that the demi-plane feels it needs to test them to see if it can bring out any evil that may or may not reside in them.

With that said, I hate having to use the "I'm the DM, and I say that this is where you are to start". But with Ravenloft, all rules about starting places go right out the window. Have them leaving a tavern after an easy night of drinking, fog rolls in, they walk a little ways, and they come out of the fog in Ravenloft.

I can't help with specific published adventures because I've never used them myself, but I bet the good folks at the Fraternity of Shadows can help you. They're an excellent community for Ravenloft-related material, and pretty much everyone there is polite and helpful.

I ran an adventure beofr Night of the Walking dead and it went a little something like this:

The PCs were searching for a thief who stole a relic from a temple of Kelemvor that supposedly contained "the power over death". What the thief didn't realize was that he mistranslated the verse, it actually said, "the power to call death". They tracked him into the swamps and through some random encounters until they found him at some ancient ruins made of unbreakable glass. Unfortunatly the thief was already being held hostage by an ogre and his hobgoblin thugs. Fight breaks out just as the thief finishes reading the tablet. He stabs the ogre to help the PCs, and for that the ogre squashes him like a bug. They win the day and get to the thief as hes dieing. He says, "I'm sorry" and spews out a blast of fog and mist that quickly spread all around them, so thick they can't see. By the time it lifts (about an hour) they are in the same ruins, but its nighttime (they attacked the ogre at around noon). They get in their boat and set off back for town, but quickly get lost (mostly because the ranger was looking for markers he set along the way). It took them a week to find the Vistani wagon and to find out they were in Soragne (sp?).

I'm starting a campaign this week in which they'll be on a galleon style boat, fall alseep for the night and wake up in the artic circle with absolutly no one else on board. Gte to it before you hit an ice burg...

Yeah, I'm evil like that
