we all know the vampire, but what about the face?

the new 4th edition book is coming out soon and we all know strahds in it, but which visual? since second edition, we've seen many incarnations. the newest theme from dan scott may be my personal favorite, but not to others.

counting tsr/ wizards stock of games both pc, playstation, pen and paper, novels, posters, and the rest excluding arthaus. which was your favorite and why?
try not to bash one artist/illustrator over the other as they have feelings too. lol.

personally i prefer anything straying from the bela lugosi; dinnerjacket look.

I like the old classic look of Strahd but at the same time he does need a face (or is that fang?) lift. I guess we'll have to wait a few more days when Open Grave comes out to see. At least he is making his return. He is one of my all time favorite D&D villians. Now, they just need to bring back Greyhawk and Iuz!!!

looks like they went back to the classic look of strahd, i was able to thumb through the book last night. open grave has him as a lurker, though it mentions he has a large spell list i didn't see one. the one think i was impressed with was what they did with strahds choking fog =]

Count Cliche' any day of the week over the effeminate fey elf pirate. Glad they staked THAT putz once and for all, even if the artwork for Strahd in Open Grave does make him look like a maitre d. :P

yeah not a fan of this "new" strahd, it makes him look even less formidible when put next to the pages of that whelm weilding vampire, kas, and even that fey-vamp in the corset looks like she could take his tip money.

anyone remember the orcish look he had in the reprint of "i strahd"? that wasn't too bad either.

Give me the original Caldwell art please.

It was perfect. Cliche? Yes. But then the entire module (and to some extents its sequel Ravenloft II: House on Gryphon Hill) was a nod to Dracula & other "classic" vampire movies....
