The new undead book Open Grave has Count Strahd's stats. The entry includes references to both I, Strahd and Gazetteer I (Strahd is believed to be his own descendant, Count Strahd XI, the Ba'al Verzi are mentioned, as is Leo Dilisnya's assasination attempt.) There is a reference to the Alchemist from I10, but it is a major retcon, and the Apparatus is not mentioned.

The entry on Kas also mentions some Ravenloft material. It seems that Kas dwells in the Shadowfell, but is not a prisoner there.

The way you're talking, it sounds as if it actually says "See Gazetteer I" or something like that. Just to be clear, no mention of Gazetteer I is mentioned, right? It just repeats some of the same stuff? Also, what mentions are made of Sergei and Tatyana? Is there any reference to Tatyana reincarnating? And any indication as to where Strahd's located? Is he in the regular Shadowfell, a Domain of Dread in the Shadowfell, on a material world, or somewhere else?

The entry on Kas also mentions some Ravenloft material. It seems that Kas dwells in the Shadowfell, but is not a prisoner there.

I wouldn't call that Ravenloft material. Domains of Dread exist in the Shadowfell, but the entire Shadowfell isn't a Domain of Dread. So being in the Shadowfell doesn't automatically mean you're in a Domain of Dread or you're in Ravenloft, etc.

The Cyan Bloodbane stats in Draconomicon semi-referenced MWP's Dragonlance line.
It's really not giving people to the competitor when the book's been out of print for over a year.

It doesn't actually say "Please look up an out of print 3.0 sourcebook", but it does mention Strahd's deception, which to my knowledge was never mentioned in any 2E source. Basically there is a knowledge check players can make (similar to the ones in several 4E Monster Manual entries). A lower result means that the PC knows only the lies and innuendo that Strahd has spread. A higher roll means the PC actually knows that Strahd is a vampire, that there is no "Count Strahd XI", that Strahd murdered Sergei, and that he is searching fruitlessly for Tatyana. As for where Barovia is, they basically left it open-ended: it can be found wherever the DM wishes. There is also a sidebar with a short history of the character's appearances since I6.

Cool. Thanks. To bad I'm hopelessly broke right now, otherwise I'd go buy it (Need to buy Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King, too, so that I can start playing a Death Knight, but those're two completely different issues :P).

Which knowledge skill would be required to know that, Knowledge(DM's Notes)?

It's a History check. Not that it's unheard of, though. Rudolph Van Richten, a 10th-level Thief, found this out about Strahd. And from Legacy of the Blood...

...Over time, I have come to suspect that the Strahd Von Zarovich who currently rules Barovia is no other than the same evil being that began our curse. Yes, though it strikes terror through me to even whisper such a thing, I have become convinced that Strahd is, in fact, one of the undying, a vampire that preserves his own evil life through the murder of others...

...Nearly the entire Von Zarovich clan perished on that night, though Strahd himself survived, I now believe, somehow transformed into a vampire...

— letter from Reval Von Zarovich to his prospective wife and fiancée, Kataryna Mandorova, priestess of the Morning Lord
