I've taken it into my mind to convert all the Ravenloft material I can into 4e terms. See thread below for my Azalin conversion.

I will start this thread with one of my favourite underused Ravenloft elements, the twisted Timepiece of Klorr.

The Timepiece of Klorr
This is an ornate pocket watch, forged of a mysterious and indestructible alloy. It is carved with images of tormented souls, and the clasp is carved to resemble skeletal claws. The face of the watch itself is unbreakable crystal, with hours numbered from 1 to 13. As the watch measures time, the hands move from midnight to 1:00, mysteriously skipping over the thirteenth hour.
Upon the back of the timepiece is carved an ominous rhyme:

By my power the sands are stayed.
The hour of death is long delayed.
The grip of time can be unmade.
But beware the price that must be paid.

The Timepiece of Klorr Epic Level
Slott:
Wondrous Item
Property: The timepiece always keeps perfect time. Nothing, not even time stop spells or travel to other planes, can cause it or the owner to lose track of time. The owner can always use it to tell the time, even in darkness or if blind. The owner's heartbeat shifts to match the ticking of the timepiece.
Property: The owner automatically succeeds on all saving throws, whether he wishes to or not. This includes death saving throws, so the only way to kill the owner is to reduce him to negative bloodied hit points. The owner cannot use any of the timepiece's powers until he uses this property for the first time.
Property: The owner does not age.
Power (At-Will; Arcane; Free Action; Personal): The owner can cast feather fall (wizard 2).
Power (Encounter; Arcane; Minor; Personal): The owner can cast haste (bard 16).
Power (Encounter; Arcane; Minor; Close Burst 5; Int vs Will): All creatures in burst are slowed and weakened until the end of the owner's next turn.
Power (Daily; Arcane; Minor; Close Burst 5; Int vs Will): All creatures in burst are stunned until the end of the owner's next turn.
Power (Daily; Arcane; Minor; Personal): The owner can cast time stop (wizard 22).
Power (Encounter; Arcane; Minor; Personal): The owner can regain hit points as though having spent a healing surge.

Goals of the Timepiece of Klorr
* Feed on sentient life energy, the more innocent, the better.
* Corrupt the owner to evil.
* Find Klorr, and destroy him.

Roleplaying the Timepiece of Klorr
The timepiece of Klorr is a twisted and evil artifact, that above all else desires to feed on life energy, and force its owner to commit ever more despicable acts.
When the owner first picks it up, it is silent aside from distant whispers in his mind. Once the owner is bound to the timepiece by automatically making a saving throw, the whispers become louder, his heartbeat begins to match the watch's ticking, and he begins to feel dark urges growing in his heart.
The timepiece never communicates verbally, but as soon as the owner uses the first power, he instantly understands what he must do to maintain concordance, and the price of failure.

Concordance
Until the wielder uses the timepiece to make a saving throw, it has no concordance and he may abandon it at will. As soon as he makes a saving throw, however, he is bound to the watch until death.
Every time a power is used (but not the automatic saving throws and timekeeping properties), a third hand appears on the face of the watch and begins counting down the thirteenth hour. If the owner does not take the life of a being of its own race before that hour is up, the timepiece loses concordance.

Each daily power used: -3
Failure to kill by end of 13th hour: -1d10

PLEASED (16-20)
The secrets of time itself are mine to command.
The owner has become as twisted and evil as the the timepiece itself, willing to feed it as many souls as it needs in return for command over time, and immortality itself.
Property: The owner gains regeneration 5, and no longer needs to eat or sleep. He must still take extended rests to regain daily powers and healing surges, though.
Power (Encounter; Personal): The owner may choose to ignore any and all attack rolls and ability checks within the previous turn, and take 10 instead.
Power: Time stop may now be used as an encounter power, and the owner can use this power to make attacks.

SATISFIED (12-15)
The power to command time is tempting.
The timepiece has promised great power to its owner, and the owner is beginning to succumb.
Power (Encounter; Personal): The owner may choose to reroll one attack roll or ability check, and take the higher result instead.
Power: The power to slow and weaken creatures may now be used at will.
Power: The power to stun creatures may now be used every encounter.

NORMAL (5-11)
Time has no power over me. The timepiece is master of my fate now.
The owner has become bound to the timepiece, and must decide whether to wield its unholy power, or find a way to destroy it before it devours his soul.

UNSATISFIED (1-4)
The timepiece hungers for life. It will claim mine if it must.
The owner has failed to feed the timepiece with sufficient life, and it floods the owner's heart with growing urges and whispered promises, hoping to lure him back into feeding its hunger.
Property: Once per day, the owner will automatically be stunned for the first turn of the first combat encounter. He will also automatically fail his first saving throw that day.

ANGERED (0 or lower)
I will not feed innocent souls to this foul device, no matter the cost to my own.
The owner has refused to give in to the timepiece's urgings and threats and promises. The timepiece will soon claim the owner's life in retribution, unless he finds a way to escape it's curse.
Property: The owner is automatically stunned for the first turn of each combat encounter. He also fails all saving throws, save for death saving throws.

MOVING ON
Time has no end, and neither does the Timepiece of Klorr.
The Timepiece of Klorr requires the owner to constantly feed it life energy to satisfy its vile hunger, by killing creatures, good beings of the owner's own race. Each time its powers are used, its concordance drops. Only by killing other beings can concordance be raised again (or by gaining levels).
Also, whenever a daily or encounter power is used, the timepiece begins counting down the thirteenth hour. If the owner fails to take a life of its race by the time taht hour is up, the timepiece loses 1d10 concordance.
Should the thirteenth hour expire while concordance is at 0 or less, and the owner fails to kill a being of its race, the Timepiece of Klorr will devour his own soul instead in retribution, and the owner will die, screaming.
