you can then reboot a new campaign in the 1890s in the US.
the modern d-20 ruleset would be perfect to pick up on about that time, while still using the fear/horror and madness rules. but try to keep everything in gothic earth.
unless you create a domain called deutchlande where there is a 'hitler' in a bombed out version of germany of that time. perhaps no bigger then then a few hollowed out bombed cities, and both germanics and secondary class citizens.
it should probably be an island or terror or perhaps even next to paridon.
supplies in the city are low so people are loathe to shoot the rusted out relic of guns they have.
and buring effegies and burning skeletons haunt the germanics ... thats just off the top of my head but in no way politically correct or even good lol.
but one thing should be certain, no darklords jumping out of thier domains to conqour other ones. domains are the darklords own personal hells, not free dibs on any one with a silly mustache.
I know that Ravenloft works good with the Modern ruleset, but me and my friends actually like it more as a " if WWII was going on in D&D land, how would they handle it" so we want to keep it at Ravenlofts tech level
I haven't officially worked any of it out, but me and my friend have been bouncing ideas around for a couple of months. Basically we're gonna have it to where Hitler, in some home world begins doing his holocaust, This is obviously evil enough for the dark powers to pick him up and drop him in Ravenloft. Then it's pretty easy because we're just gonna follow history, with Hitler quickly spreading out from the core and conquering territories.When Hitler eventually takes reaches Dementlieu and the other France-like domains, the other domains that represented the allied powers would unite to fight this new threat, while Hitler allies himself with Rokushima Taiyoo and the Italy like countries. When Rokushima Taiyoo attacks Souragne( or any other America like domain, not too sure about that one) and then they join the fight, and it's WWII. not sure about some of the less regular domains, probably gonna make Blutespur allie with the Nazis though.
Well, I 'd suggest that the Dark Powers pick him up after he put the bullet into his demented brain, taking the easy way out of the mess he created - only to wake up and find himself in the same old situation.
I don't see WWII taking place across domain borders in Ravenloft, but having a large war-torn realm with several sides stranded there, more like the last stages of the war after D-Day when Europe was being liberated. Now, some of those combatants may think they 're from Dementlieu or somewhere else, sent to fight that madman's forces, but they're cut off from their homelands and the supply lines are unreliable at best, and now both groups fight for control for the strategic ressources.
Otherwise, if you want a D&D themed total war, methinks Eberron fits the technological level best.
