| #1D_karrApr 23, 2008 21:10:27 | ![]() Greetings, and welcome to the organization forum for the Northern Virginia – 4th Edition Dungeons & Dragons Worldwide Game Day. What is the D&D Worldwide Game Day? The D&D Worldwide Game Day is a yearly event, sponsored by the RPGA, designed to promote playing Dungeons & Dragons. It is hosted at retail locations worldwide. This year in particular the event will take place on Saturday, 7 June 2008; the day after the release of Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition. This will be a unique opportunity to gather around game tables everywhere, with old friends or new ones you’ve just met, and share in the excitement of the new edition of Dungeons & Dragons. The hosts for this event will be the Game Parlor stores in Woodbridge, and Chantilly Virginia. At this stage we are organizing our event volunteers. If you’d like to run some of the games, please make sure to contact me through e-mail (raven0282 at yahoo.com) I’ll be your event coordinator for both locations and will be responsible for answering questions about the event and coordinating with the stores and volunteers. Craig Roberts is our store liaison at Game Parlor Woodbridge and is responsible for ordering our materials and reserving our game locations for both stores. These are things that have already been set into motion. On the day of the event, I will be onsite at the Woodbridge store and I already have a designated Onsite Coordinator for the Chantilly store. The onsite coordinator will be in charge of rounding up the DMs for each game table and balancing the table load, if we don't have enough people at each table to play. What is being played? At this time and based on the information we have, there is ONE new adventure being published for this day, Into the Shadowhaunt. Our plan is to host two game sessions during the day (10:30AM - 3:30PM and 4:30PM - 9:30PM) We can not anticipate demand and because there might be some people that want to stay and play a second game that day, we will also offer Escape from Sembia and Scalegloom Hall. These two adventures premiered at the Dungeons & Dragons Experience (DDXP) and will be available for play on that date. This is an RPGA event. In the past there have been some glitches with reporting the event for reward points. This year we are taking the time to organize a bit more and I will make sure that this event gets reported for reward points. If the adventure Into the Shadowhaunt is not in the RPGA system at that time we will still report it as a D&D Game for reward points. In the unlikely event that the RPGA publishes additional adventures for use before the event, we will decide if we have time to add those adventures to the roster or switch the DDXP adventures for the new ones. What do we need from you? Right now, we need to find out how many people in the Northern Virginia / Maryland / DC Area are planning on attending the D&D Worldwide Game Day, and how many are willing to DM. Please contact me by e-mail (raven0282 at yahoo dot com) if you are interested in playing or volunteering and please provide the following information, so I may complete your entry on the preprinted sign up sheets that will be distributed to the Game Parlor stores in the next few days. What to Provide: Name (Last, First) RPGA Number (if you already have one) Contact e-mail Store to play (Chantilly, Woodbridge) Adventure to play (Into the Shadowhaunt, Escape from Sembia, or Scalegloom Hall) Slot (Morning, Evening, Both) IMPORTANT - You must provide the information detailed above promptly. Without that information we can not assign a place on the sign-up sheets. Without your information on the sign-up sheet you might not have a seat at a table. Please take note of that. To prevent your personal information from being disclosed publicly on any site, please e-mail it directly to me. Do not post it here. However, your information will be printed on the sign-up sheet for the store you select. I will use the e-mail to send out a reminder of this event at two weeks from the event and the weekend before. If you are going to be a judge I will also contact all of you separately to coordinate other details. What to bring: Bring a good attitude to the table, and a desire to have fun. For those that are already RPGA members also bring your RPGA card number. If someone does not have a card or has lost theirs, we will have RPGA cards available at each location. Everything else for playing at the event will be provided. I'm keeping track of this and my goal is to make this the most attended Game Day either store has ever had. At this time the only way to sign up for this event is by contacting me. Once the sign-up sheets go live at the stores players will be able to sign-up by calling the stores directly or by contacting me. We will post on this thread when the sign up sheets are available at the stores. Event Volunteers still need to contact me so that we can assign you to the correct stores and tables and make sure you get the necessary materials for the games. Please refer any questions about the event itself to me at raven0282 at yahoo dot com or ask them in this forum. If you know of others that would be interested in this event have them visit this forum or have them contact me at the e-mail I've provided. Thanks, Vic (D'karr) Morales [Event Coordinator] |
