Hello, my name is Tamara Fendez. I have a store in Santiago de Chile and Im very disappointed, as we had already secured a venue to host DnD Gameday 2008, sent the application, and have had no reply whatsoever from Wizards.

Last year, they said we had to go through Devir Chile to get our material, yet Devil wont hold Gameday in June at all.

A gamer club in Iquique (to the far north of chile) has already been confirmed to host Gameday on 6/7/08, and they are not even a retailer.

Seeing this, I dont understand why we have to go through Devir to even get the promotional material; we have already ran GameDay, we have been RPGA members since before Devir started business in Chile, we have been roleplayers for over a decade and we have prepared to celebrate with the rest of the world.

Does anyone have a phone number or an email of someone i could contact directly? I could provide a USA address to receive the material, or provide a non-retailer organization to host the event, if need be.

Thanks in advance!

Seems like you're getting teh short end of the stick.

If nothing else, I know the LFR previews that were played at DDXP and have been passed around are available for RPGA play on the 6th for 4 points each so you can at least have that waiting for people. I know its not the same as the 'game day' box but its better than nothing

Hello,

That is actually another issue that we have - on Monday 04/28 we were asked by Devir to run the Escape from Sembia adventure as a tournament on the 17 of may, in tune with an event organized from Brazil. We are preparing this, our venue is ready, our masters are ready and trying to figure out 4E... but we dont have the adventure yet! If you do, or you know who has it... we are looking for it and we need it asap!

More of the GMs we work with are wanting to write to the RPGA demanding we get access to living campaigns and other things, i would prefer we do it orderly, so i've been trying to reach rpga but hopefully someone who can actually help us reads this soon!

Hi Tamara,

From WOTC DND website, they said about Gameday

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/4dnd/gameday
So what does it take to be an organizer? Simply a willingness to organize a public location and provide an action-packed day of 4th Edition fun to everyone wishing to attend. We’ll provide everything else in our kits. Time is short and kits are limited, so apply today to avoid disappointment

I've know that last year they're more strict about gameday organizers, but this year they need a lot of support to lauch the new edition of D&D, i think that is the reason because, they open the door to everyone that have the willingness to organize a gameday do it.

Best Regards,

Omar Carrillo

Ha! I'm glad we are all able to celebrate it... I am especially interested in being able to host Organized Play instances ('cause this was one of the main reasons to set up a store)

In fact i'm a big fan of gamers' autonomy; through my gamers site ( JuegosdeRol.cl ) I am trying to be able to spread any benefits we may get in touch with to players in different cities; I am hoping that for next year fun initiatives will be held by members in different cities.

I was very disappointed that the local distributor wouldn't support on the date we expected, thankfully the material was sent anyway and we will hold the event as planned for months, and I think they will help some, after all.

My belief is that gamers' alliances and enthusiasm should be strong and bright, and we need to be as noisy as possible when it comes to our hobby: make things right, knock every door, make sure things happen and events take place.

I am lucky i have the time and availability to devote myself to organizing this kind of thing, and if i am in the position of being a mover and a shaker around here, i'm glad to put that to a good use!

It seems that only Santiago, Iquique and Valdivia will hold Gameday properly and on the international event date. We should make this an opportunity to reinforce our connection as "serious gamers" and be united to make things right.

We must support our stores and intermediaries, but we must also show them that we have the energy and spirit to make things happen!

woo very nice, congrats!

i'm not sure about the attendees to the event here, i think something over 130 ppl total, around 50 of them directly involved with the gameday tables

to celebrate 4E we had 7 tables where the 4E gameday adventure was ran, plus a Star Wars Saga as an eighth, and D&D miniatures demos as well.

as an anecdote: the SW adventure was bilingual: we had some Canadians who didn't speak Spanish, so the GM directed it in both languages; and two girls, a Canadian and a Mexican, who had never played before. hard work for the GM!

the rest of the event consisted of more RPGs and a lot of boadgames.

we appreciate the care which was put in helping us make this happen. thanks Ian & guys!

let's work towards having other coordinated activities in different cities, shall we :D (i like it when people know what they are doing!)

Great, guys.

Over in Singapore, I had 10 tables running for the DNDGD module (5 tables, 2 sessions), a dungeon delve (3.5) of Gygax module to mourn his death and a "newbie" table for people to learn the game and to just have fun.

I had a turnout of about 70+ just for DND alone, with loads of other people coming for the mini-con to play 40k, Warmachine, WOW TCG and of course, Dnd Minis.

It was great.. Is there a place where we can post event reports like the previous years?
