Make sure you read the directions provided however, especially the following:

Does anybody know when QUES1-1 will become available to play for home games?

It's the only reason for my default LFR character not to play anymore games (too close to level 11)...

And would someone know if it's a regular 4 hour adventure or closer to a special?

So no love for Star Wars? I can't beleive that WOTC is not supporting Star Wars Saga Edition at Origins. Sure it is not D&D, but it is a big licensed property that most people have at least hear of. Sigh.

So is there anyway to get official RPGA sanctioning for the single play of Betrayal of Darth Revan I am running?

Thanks,
Duncan

Is that part of the Dawn of Defiance campaign? (It sounds familiar).

If it is, as far as I know - you can sanction your play session via the usual RPGA channels.

If you wanted to try to get listed as part of the official RPGA presence for Origins you'd have to contact Dave Christ - the bald man of baldmangames.com.

Please note, however, that for consideration under the "official" RPGA umbrella for the show - you'll almost certainly need to run more than one slot. RPGA HQ at Origins tends to run 3 table per slot of each game being run. A single slot - while certainly sanctionable yourself - may not be worth the administravia the RPGA would have to go through at the show (listing it as an event, having GAMA print tickets, slotting a table, etc).

In fact, if you're planning to run this as a public "anyone can join" event @ Origins, you might want to verify that this is okay with GAMA policy - since they're in the business of selling tickets for public events. If it's a private game that just happens to be at Origins, you're probably in the clear.

The Betrayal of Darth Rivan is a one-shot SWSE module available from the standard RPGA event sanctioning menu.

It is set during or near the end of the Sith/Jedi wars, when there was a Sith Empire. The module is designed for 9th level PCs, and even comes with a set of pregens as part of the package.

Latest word from Wavester (aka Dave, aka The Bald Man).

So all judge schedules that I have received as of this afternoon have been processed. If you have not get a confirmation schedule from me then please fill the form out again at http://origins.baldmangames.com

We are closing in on 50% coverage which is good for this time frame but we do have a limited rooming block for the show and it will fill up in the next week or two. You've been warned.

Why isn't origens on the RPGA calendar?

Even big cons often don't show up on the RPGA event calendar until a few weeks before the con. Nothing shows up on that calendar until the event organizer actually orders the adventures to be played at that event. For planning your attendance at cons more than a few weeks out, the event calendar isn't that useful.

Let us know how and when to sign up for events.

Event sign-up for Origins goes live today (5/5) at noon Eastern time. It'll be on the Origins web site (originsgamefair.com). You'll need to be a registered user on the Origins site, and have already purchased a badge (badges have been available for months) before you can purchase event tickets.

And, a few minutes before event registration was supposed to go live, they sent out an e-mail. It's been pushed back 24 hours. Now expected to go live at noon Eastern tomorrow (5/7).

:D Kenobi65 - Thanks for the info!

Sent in my registration - even after logging in I had trouble registering on line (yes I have an approved browser) - I will try after a week and see if they processed my registration and try to register for games.

Again - thanks for the information:D

Just FYI...LFR games are likely to be very popular, and you may well find that many of them sell out within a few hours of the tickets going on sale (if not sooner). At least, that's what my past experience has been with RPGA events at Origins and GenCon.

Quick update on Origins judge sign-ups, courtesy of the "Dave's Shows" mailing list:

Origins - we are nearing 70% coverage but our rooming block is almost totally fully. We have only a few spots left so if interested in judging at this show please head over to http://origins.baldmangames.com sooner rather then later.

Thanks

In case anyone out there hasn't heard, Origins is having problems with their event registration software. After false starts yesterday and today, their current plan is to have event registration go live next Tuesday, May 12th, at noon Eastern time.

so I'm looking at the Origins events schedule, and I see something called "4e Return to Old School - White Plume Mountain (Heroic - Tier)," is this the "D&D for Beginners" from the Judge sign up sheet? Also, is there any word on what slots / adventures specifically still need DMs?

That is not an RPGA event. It is being run by a group called Amorphous Blob Games, a fun-loving group of guys and gals who put together games for conventions. They are quite fun, but they have nothing to do with RPGA, LFR, etc.

Dear Lord!

Registration is still a mess, and at around 4pm, all we get is fatal errors.

Reallly? All I wanted was my GM badge so I could get one ticket...I spent three hours to no avail. What a HUUUUUGE waste of time.

Ugh.

Indeed. I was able to get my tickets, though it took over 2 hours.

I have several friends who *still* haven't been able to complete their event registration, and we're going on 8 hours since they opened. They've been trying constantly since noon Eastern...time-out errors, proxy errors, you name it.

I've been going to Origins and GenCon for almost 10 years now, and been through some bad event registration experience...but this is, by far, the worst I've ever seen.

I had not received a confirmation on my GM slots yet. so I am going to assume that I am not GMing at this point, but just in case since my timing for origins is crucial is there a way that I can contact the head GM personally to confirm?

Thanks,
Red

You can contact Dave as "webmaster@baldmangames.com" - but also make sure you check your spam filters.

If your application was submit odds are pretty good that you'll be on his roster, so it's very good to double-check. If you like, you can carbon-copy me on the e-mail as well (wolfstar76@gmail.com) and ask that Dave do so as well, so that I can play intermediary - on the off chance your spam filter is eating Dave's replies.

What LFR special mods are going to be at Origins? I was wondering because we are running some LFR at a convention right before Gencon.

Thanks

I believe that the only "special" module is QUES 1-1 (the Zhentarim Quest module).

Badge Update

Unfortunately there isn't much to report here.

If you're going to Origins under the RPGA banner, and are awaiting your badge, please know that Dave submit all the information to GAMA weeks ago, and has been poking, bribing, pleading, and if I know him - even blackmailing those he has contact with to try and get us badges.

Alas, GAMA seems to be, as they often do, dragging their feet regarding our badges, so we're all in a holding pattern (still).

If/when there's any new information to be passed along, I'll be sure to do so.

Now - if you just can't wait any longer, and you're feeling a little adventureous you MIGHT want to apply for a GM badge - which is free and will let you order tickets/ribbons/etc.

This seems to be a simple way to order your events (if you haven't found another way to do so already).
