| #1Dragon9Jun 27, 2009 17:05:59 | I know the Con isn't done yet, but it's done for me. I only went up on Friday and got to play in three mods. Had a lot of fun. Great DMs for all the games. Sorry I don't remember your names (I suck with names) except for Tim for my last slot playing TYMA1-5. (he wins out because he was the last one :P) Got to stretch the legs of a new PC, a drow Storm Mage sorcerer. Had a lot of fun with it blowing people all over the place. Got scared in a group that consisted of 4 leaders and two strikers, but we managed to pull through. It was a bit dicey. ![]() A huge thanks to my DMs for running. A huge thanks to the fine folks at HQ helping to make it all work. Dustin, glad I got to meet you face to face. EDIT: And interestingly enough, I wrote "Dragon9 - LFR Forum VCL" on my badge and I didn't have anyoen point at me and go "You! I HATE YOU!" So that's a good sign. ![]() 2nd EDIT: I was disappointed at the poor performance of Team Wootzor. All day Friday I was the only one shouting Wootzor. My apologies to my tablemates whom i startled with my loud, boisterous WOOTZOR. 5 of them on Friday and nary a peep in return. Sad, men, very sad. ;) |
| #2bgardner_1971_dupJun 28, 2009 20:16:03 | Was there an RPGA members meeting, and if so could you share what was said? |
| #3WolfStar76Jun 29, 2009 10:57:31 | Was there an RPGA members meeting, and if so could you share what was said? There was no such meeting - that's reserved for GenCon. ![]() |
| #4cincinnatusJun 30, 2009 5:48:29 | I had a great time at Origins playing the Dungeon Delve. Thanks to all who were running the games! |
| #5AlphastreamJun 30, 2009 11:39:34 | Any info on the new mods? Which are the choice picks that we should salivate over playing? Any duds? |
| #6Dragon9Jun 30, 2009 15:50:03 | Hmm... hard to say. It's very subjective. I haven't read the mods so i couldnt say if the three mods I played were awesome or if they were utter crap and I just had awesome DMs. :P |
| #7lavyanJun 30, 2009 16:00:57 | WOOTZOR!! There ya go Evan, I heard a couple good ones on Saturday. Maybe we can do better at GenCon. :D Lavyan |
| #8ibixatJun 30, 2009 21:07:44 | Dang, I don't think I ran into you Dragon9. Did you play AKAN 1-4 with the DM who's mini's had rubber bands tied around them to make them fit better by chance? |
| #9Dragon9Jun 30, 2009 22:08:44 | I don't think so. Not sure what you mean by fit better. I played a wizard named Vermunder. I sat at a table and then moved to a different table which was a little unbalanced. |
| #10Madfox11Jul 01, 2009 4:25:14 | Hmm... hard to say. It's very subjective. I haven't read the mods so i couldnt say if the three mods I played were awesome or if they were utter crap and I just had awesome DMs. :P Well, you can always give it a try ;) As an experienced player you should be able to have some idea on what was DM(E) and players and what was adventure. Of course, you should do in the LFR Adventure section and not here ;) |
| #11Fundin_StrongarmJul 01, 2009 7:07:46 | The theme and flavour of AKAN1-4 was great. The encounters, less so. BALD1-4, TYMA1-5 and WATE1-5 all seemed pretty decent. Show TYMA1-5 had a bundle of any 3rd level or lower item from AV. I took Meliorating Scale for my Cleric. |
| #12smerwin29Jul 01, 2009 7:14:32 | I wanted to add my thank you to all the fine folks--staff, DMs, and players--who played LFR and the delves at Origins. This job can really wear you down, especially having to deal with folks on the Internet, so although cons like this really tire you out physically, emotionally they are a shot in the arm. People are 99% positive, happy, and sitting around a table enjoying a game that brings them joy. I ran 3 different adventures (plus one encounter for a 5 year old!) over the course of the convention, and I think everyone had a good time. At least there were smiles and laughs. I also got a chance to play the delve once, where a bunch of us kicked butt and finished with 2 minutes to spare. Good times! Let's start it all over again in exactly 6 weeks! :-) Shawn |

Man, Gencon sure is close. And That was something I noticed, most people at the con were just having fun, very little drama like the boards here can have =p The one time I did delve we had fun, if any of us could have rolled higher than a 7 it may have gone our way too =P |
| #14Mengu74Jul 01, 2009 10:51:22 | I also wanted to say I had a great time, and thanks to all the judges and players I've played with. I can't exactly list names as I've played 4-5 delves, the ultimate delve, and 7 LFR mods with 2 different characters. This was my first time doing RPGA events, and it has been an enjoyable experience. I look forward to GenCon, where I will again be playing everything my (still low level) character will qualify for. |
| #15lavyanJul 01, 2009 17:41:22 | Hi all, While at rigins people were abuzz about the changes to Righeous Rage, does anyone know when this become official? There is also some sort of change to how on going damage is handled? If you recieve the same effect from 2 different sources it requires 2 saving throws? Thanks, Lavyan |
| #16telvin3dJul 01, 2009 21:13:57 | Uh, what changes to Righteous Rage? I thought I kept fairly up-to-date on rule updates and such but this is the first I've heard of it. Did they release updated information at the convention? There has been no update to the errata. Could someone with more information elaborate please? |
| #17Dragon9Jul 01, 2009 21:22:49 | Yeah, I didn't hear anything about RRoT or ongoing damage while I was there. I call shenanigans. (until i see it in errata) |
| #18ibixatJul 01, 2009 21:29:24 | *shrug* I heard no changes to RRoT and I barely left the RPGA room all weekend |
| #19telvin3dJul 01, 2009 23:00:53 | If this turns out to have been a false alarm generated by an overzealous and creative DM's table rules I'm going to laugh forever. That said, I wouldn't mind an errata of RRoT. Perhaps make it crit on a roll of 18-20? |
| #20sutroJul 02, 2009 0:55:11 | I heard from a quite trustworthy source at the con that battlerage vigor and RRoT were both catching errata. I'm looking forward to seeing if it bears fruit (especially since none of my chars use those mechanics!) |
| #21lavyanJul 02, 2009 5:12:39 | Well, I don't have a PC that uses RRoT, this is what I think happened. The DMs had a meeting and Dave Christ informed them of the change. RRoT is no longer a crit, you use the power and if you hit you can add the weapons crit dice to the damage? I am mor interested in seeing if theey changed anything else? Lavyan |
| #22JohnduBoisJul 02, 2009 6:42:27 | The buzz I heard at Origins (and to a certain extent, this is buzz stacking with buzz from a couple of WotC staff members' Twitter accounts) were that a number of rules items were on the errata "hit list". Which items were on the list varied depending on who you talked to (many people who wouldn't simply make things up, but may not have heard the information firsthand), but I heard RRoT, Rain of Blows, double weapons, and battlerager vigor were all on the list. I also heard a couple discussions of what changes were being made, but I didn't hear anything specific that I wouldn't need further clarification on or anything from WotC staff, so I'm not going to discuss them here. Wouldn't want to ruin my "solid reputation" (I promise this is the last time I poke Vamroc for saying that I had one). :P |
| #23drorainJul 02, 2009 7:25:19 | Thank you guys for the fun games, made the ride from boston really worthwhile, wish I could see ya'll at gencon, but I'll have to just play at OGC, little more local for me. |
| #24sutroJul 02, 2009 8:43:14 | Oh, I heard Rain of Blows as well. But double weapons? ...dangit. I should've known that the 30-year-long waiting list for Darneel's Double Sword School for Dastardlies wasn't worth it. |
| #25WolfStar76Jul 02, 2009 12:22:20 | The buzz I heard at Origins (and to a certain extent, this is buzz stacking with buzz from a couple of WotC staff members' Twitter accounts) . . . but I heard RRoT, Rain of Blows, double weapons, and battlerager vigor were all on the list. I also heard a couple discussions of what changes were being made, I'm with John in that I've seen all of these items are being under review by WotC Tweeps. Whether those reviews mean change is happening or not only WotC knows for sure - but I'd speculate it's likely. ![]() |
| #26WolfStar76Jul 02, 2009 15:44:12 | . . .and we have a (mini) Rules Update. It covers:
Be sure to check out the changes here: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/updates |
| #27Dragon9Jul 02, 2009 16:14:38 | I think they're all well done changes. They're still useful without being totally nerfed. |
