| #1d_gibbJan 22, 2010 11:40:44 | I just went on to sanction my weekly home game and my Game Day event, and it said that the Game Day box kits are all sold out already, has anybody else come into this problem? I didn't even know that the sanctioning date was up for it already. |
| #2ThanlisJan 22, 2010 12:00:47 | I just went on to sanction my weekly home game and my Game Day event, and it said that the Game Day box kits are all sold out already, has anybody else come into this problem? I didn't even know that the sanctioning date was up for it already. That would be kind of disappointing -- the Game Day event only went up for sanctioning this week, and it wasn't announced till a couple of days ago. I just haven't had a chance to talk to my store yet about how many tables they want. |
| #3WolfStar76Feb 01, 2010 12:08:18 | I'll do some poking. Chris flies back to WotC today, so I don't promise much until tomorrow at the soonest. Chris is on vacation this week, so I'll poke around at some of my other contacts. |
| #4WolfStar76Feb 01, 2010 15:34:32 | I asked some of my other contacts. The most recent Magic: the Gathering game day kits are sold out - but there are still plenty of WWDDGD:PH3 kits in the system. If you're getting an error ordering those kits, I'd suggest you log the exact error message you're getting and contact Customer Service (www.wizards.com/customerservice). |
| #5tirianmalFeb 01, 2010 16:29:02 | It is not an error, the banner at the top of the ordering page says that they are sold out. Maybe I misread it, but I saw the same thing. |
| #6AlphastreamFeb 01, 2010 17:44:31 | This seems to be a technical error. The message appears only if you select the "Download" option. My guess is that there is some mistaken database entry that causes the download to be linked to some nonexistant limit on events (which there would not be for downloading). |
| #7tirianmalFeb 01, 2010 23:29:35 | At least when I ordered it, this message appeared -before- I made the choice one way or the other (DL or Mail). "We are sorry, but Worldwake Game Day kits, in North America only, have sold out. We are working to find a resolution for locations that have not yet scheduled an event, so please contact your North American Direct Sales representative for additional information." Now, as I understand it, Worldwake is some sort of Magic thing, so why it appears when I click on a D&D icon, I don't know. Clearly a mistake? I call nothing around here "clear" anymore. ![]() |
| #8WolfStar76Feb 02, 2010 16:00:23 | Worldwake is the "Game Day" for Magic that's currently sold out. I'll see if I can replicate and screenshot the message to pass along to CustServ. ^_^ |
| #9WolfStar76Mar 21, 2010 6:35:17 | With GameDay having come and gone, I'm going to unstick this thread. How'd your GameDay go? Post your experiences below! |
| #10festivusMar 21, 2010 11:40:09 | Our gameday was pretty good, although I had one DM not show up I have some feedback, and photos and intend to blog about it tonight when I get home from a trek out with the kids today.Feedback: [*] There were a number of editing errors in the adventure, this isn't unusual sadly. [*] The pregen characters were nice, demonstrating a variety of things you couldn't do yet in CB. However, in the future if we could have the pregens with clearly different sounding names it would be helpful (I am looking at you Caewin and Kalen). Retail environments are loud and sometimes it's hard to clearly hear things... in my second game after the first combat I ended up renaming Kalen to "BOB" to make it clear whom I was calling on. [*] Make player tokens with a alphabetic letter that corresponds to the pregen name. E.G., a set of six pogs with (A)bishock, (B)ristol, (C)aewin, (D)enton, (E)rais, (F)arkle would go a long ways towards helping manage things. [*] The Encounters card was fun but we didn't get them till after the encounters ran, so instead I renamed them "Do something cool" cards, and when a player did something outside the box or was very well roleplayed, I gave them this card to use at the table. In the final fight I gave it to everyone. If we could get these more in advance it would be a driver to get folks to come to these sorts of events. [*] Bring back the minis. Pogs are okay, but being able to give the people who show up a small plastic token of appreciation is really nice too. [*] Shorten it up a smidge perhaps? I managed to run mine in 4 hours but that was only by shortcutting some encounters. Every group managed to negotiate with Calcrix (or whatever it's name was), but I really could tell some folks were itching to fight it. A three hour game means we could run it more often in the store, staggering the starts and better handling walk-ins. [*] I loved the skill challenge with the rift, that was a very novel way to do it. I think though that the DCs were too easy on it. Not one person failed. Overall, enjoyable adventure. It was fun to run twice because each group handled things differently. I subbed in a huge carrion crawler mini for the grick alpha... the look on their faces when I put that out was priceless! |
| #11eriksdbMar 21, 2010 12:09:14 | I think some of the editing mistakes may have originated from me not designing the maps using tiles, but rather just powerpoint on my computer. The WotC map folks then would have had to build my maps with actual tilesets, which bollixed stuff up a bit. I have since learned to design only with the dungeon tiles, so things will be much clearer in future (for instance, the D&D Encounters series is all built with tiles). Also, a few of my original ideas got revised and stuff shifted along the way, and whenever that happens, you open the door to editing slips. I just hope everything was clear enough that people could run the adventure, or at least fill in those gaps. I personally agree that the DCs were low in the sinkhole skill challenge, and it was DM's prerogative to up them as appropriate. Mostly, it was to reflect the sheer randomness, as sometime a person with no Arcana or Intelligence would be forced to make an Arcana check, where the chances of failure were still good. In our game, DCs got upped about 5 points, and it meant a failure in the skill challenge as people kept getting forced to make completely untrained/stat-supported checks. I think what would have been better would have been to up the DCs by 5 (or more) when the PC was making a trained skill check, but that would have to be ad hoc on the fly. Cheers |
