| #1drorainJul 30, 2010 7:05:52 | Hi everyone, So given the announcement that RPGA is changing quite a bit and will be developing some new strategy and mods I think it's about time we start thinking about what conventions will be like in the next couple years. LFR will continue to get mods, but we won't be getting the numerous amounts that come out now. Given the Global Admins will likely be talking about this at Gen Con, this thread might be able to give them some ideas of what the community might want to see, or what we plan on doing. I for one can't wait now to see what the authors will come up with now that the shackles are thrown off. It'd be nice if Wotc still paid them, but thats another story for another time. The idea I'd like to share with the group goes a something like this.... 1. I love the concept of the DM Challenge that was at PAX and Origins this year, I participated in the Underdark game at PAX East. I'd like to see more of these challenges, and I'd love to see them cover level bands and be incorporated in the MYRE format. Now I know these can be made unofficially and just be sanctioned, but maybe it'd be cool to launch our own challenges at different cons. Ideas could be shared on our boards here. 2. We should bring the cities of Faerun to life, the Ravens Bluff game is a good concept. I'd love to see a series of adventures MYRE style, with tied in stories and bringing the city to life. Keeping it interactive, this could span a couple level bands or be something that people start at and work through at the convention, maybe gaining a level or two along the way. I think we could add more to the intrigue of say Waterdeep or maybe bring parts of Baldurs Gate to life...Or a forray into the jungles of Chult? With LFR becoming more open I think we can have fun with it, it'll be an investment of time for those of us that run games, but this is what keeps me going sometimes, having a solid story to play through and coordinating with other people would be great. |
