| #1mshea_dupOct 11, 2008 8:00:53 | At Gencon last year I received a new membership card and membership number since I didn't have my old card and old number handy. I played in a number of events and leveled up my LFR dwarf fighter to level 3. Unfortunately I gave the activation card to the judge and now my account is not activated and I have no activation code. I've tried contacting the dci@wizards.com folks a bunch. One live reply told me that they found my old account but that one doesn't have my LFR character on it. I want them to activate the new account. My wife is in the same boat that I'm in. Neither of us are able to activate. Should we give up and start over again? Does everyone have as much trouble as we are? It would seem, if they want this whole LFR thing to work right, that it shouldn't be this hard to get a working account. Thanks for any help or suggestions. Mike Shea |

| #4JijiOct 12, 2008 0:51:08 | I have a player that lost his card while at GenCon 2008 an one of the GMs gave him a new card but the problem is it only has 8 digits. We have discussed him filling out a 10 digit card but he played a couple events at Gencon Under the 8 digit number. Can anyone suggest what i can do about this? I have to report an event he was in today so time is of the essence |

Let them know you can't login to your account, and the "Forgot Password" link doesn't work for your number. |

New membership cards with less than 10-digits should be destroyed, they are no longer valid. I'm not sure what you're asking - if you're claiming he got a new 8-digit number that he used at GenCon, he may well be out of luck as starting with GenCon events is when the 8-digit numbers became invalid. It's *possible* that if HQ received his new membership card that the data-entry person(s) at WotC will be able to over-ride and activate the card. |

I expect the DM was trying to help and gave the player a card from his own supply of cards, not knowing (as I don't think even HQ realised at that point) that only 10-digit cards would work. However there doesn't seem to be any way whatsoever to get that eight-digit number to work, if it wasn't in the system prior to GenCon. If the event was smaller, I'd tell him to get the Senior GM of that event to find him a different number, but I doubt there is any way in which that's possible for an event the size of GenCon. Regardless of that - which he should take up with Customer Services if he wants - he should fill out a ten-digit number and/or contact Customer Services to try to find his old number. They can merge numbers, so it doesn't matter that much. |
