Confused about gold

Quick question. In the Treasure section of the (first) RPGA module I ran, it says:

"If a player selects an option that gives their character more gold, add that to the gold all characters receive, and ensure you enter the total amount of gold gained (minus any expenditures) online."

So, if two characters choose 100 gold instead of an item, every character in the party recieves 200 extra gold?

Seemed a bit odd, just wanted to be sure.

Thanks!

No...but you're right, that wording's a little funky. The "all characters receive" is meant to indicate "the basic amount that *any* character receives." The amount of gold that each PC receives is dependent only on that PC's decision on whether or not to take a treasure bundle (or a potion); if PC X doesn't take a bundle, that doesn't give PC Y any more gold.

Ok, it seems my expedition back into the RPGA has been met with some changes I did not forsee;

Let me explain, I just ran a brand new set of players through CORE1-1, CORE1-2, and CORE1-3 of the Living Forgotten Realms.

My question in on the bundles, as they were 1st level on CORE1-1 and CORE1-2 they chose a bundle with a Magic Item in CORE1-1 and CORE1-2 but according to the rules they can only have magic items equal to their level, so they can only have 1. Well If I were to backtrack the CORE1-1 module did not have a Extra Gold amount, they had #/# written. Our Warlock in the Group would rather have the item from CORE1-2 then the one from CORE1-1, so how much gold should he have received?

How do I as a DM make the corrections to the RPGA?

Also when I played back in the Living 3.5 games, is this new to 4E?

Thanks in Advance

The copy of CORE1-1 that I have lists a More Gold option right after the bundles. For the low-level play version that is 50 extra gold if they didn't take any other bundle.

How do I as a DM make the corrections to the RPGA?

You can file an appeal via the "Appeal Form" link on the RPGA member site.

While it's good to have up-to-date/correct information online, it's worth noting that the online tracking is only for backup purposes. In case you/your players lose your paper records.

Also when I played back in the Living 3.5 games, is this new to 4E?

I don't follow?

Well in 3.5 Living Geryhawk, Living Arcanis, Living City....

I never saw where you were limited in the magic items you could carry, if you finished a module you most likely received a magic item, well you divide up the certs at the end.

4E has a set progression for how much treasure is considered balanced for the math behind the game.

LFR tries to emulate that treasure progression as best it can (and opinions vary on the success of that emulation).

4E as a whole is less dependent on player characters becoming "walking Christmas Trees" where the ornaments and baubles are more important than the characters carrying them.
