dragon-basilisk unseen
so unfair, we weep

(To explain this one, there was a core special where there was a half-dragon basilisk under water, with just an eye showing above the water. Upon entering deep enough into the room (which had a mound of treasure, some columns, and two weird statues with glowing eyes), you made a spot check. If you succeeded, you made a fort save to avoid becoming paralyzed. Even if you made the save, you did not spot anything. If you failed, you saw nothing and nothing happened. We had half the party turned to stone, and my PC called for the retreat to avoid any more PCs turned to stone. The half-black dragon basilisk then emerged and combat began. My Trickster got lucky when my glitterdust blinded the creature (meaning no gaze effects for it) and in a brutal fight we won. However, this meant we had to take the three back to town, get them turned to flesh, etc. We were then unable to accomplish the mission, lost out on the big reward and cheesy items, and generally had a terrible time with the mod.)
