| #1WickSep 26, 2008 15:59:41 | I got my D&D Delve Night packet today but it seems to be missing the poster to advertise the event. I have one other questions... Is the packet mailing connected to to the date and time I have sanctioned the event. When I sanctioned it I picked a day but it seems that this could be used as a way to run and encounter for folks that just walk in and want to have a quick D&D game for an hour or two. How would that get reported? It also came with DCI cards not RPGA cards. Not that it matters now but I liked the style of the RPGA cards a lot better... And one final thing! Those of you that have gotten your packets, what do you think? |
| #2telvin3dSep 26, 2008 16:17:29 | Well, the DCI cards are better than the RPGA cards because they have the tear-off activation code. The RPGA cards have to be mailed in and can taek 4 weeks to get activated. The DCI cards can be activated right away online. |

I just liked the look and style of the RPGA cards better. |
| #4WolfStar76Sep 26, 2008 17:57:11 | I personally suspect (SPECULATION ALERT) that RPGA cards are likely extinct, and the current generation of DCI cards are holdovers until new cards come down the pipe. I also suspect these will be co-branded cards featuring both RPGA and DCI OR be simply branded "WPN". |
| #5pedrSep 27, 2008 7:14:49 | Ian Richards is, I think, doing his best to maintain RPGA 'branding' - while the databases might have merged, and both DCI and RPGA will be coming under the WPN 'umbrella', the RPGA will still 'exist', if he has anything to do with it! I think that future cards will probably be dual-branded, and have activation codes - one significant benefit of the database merge (we need to name them where we find them, lest we fall into despair at the difficulties of the last month!) |

I'd prefer that even over co-branding. But then I look at things like the WPN Online signup page - where there's no mention of the RPGA of DCI and I wonder. Dungeons and Dragons and Magic: the Gathering are both branded on the form, but no RPGA or DCI. Foreshadowing? [EDIT] Correction. There a note that if you're a DCI organizer you don't need to fill out the form, and an option field to list your DCI number if you have one. Still no mention of the RPGA, however. |
| #7pedrSep 27, 2008 9:03:02 | Foreshadowing? Perhaps. It is already extremely confusing that to sanction Star Wars: Dawn of Defiance, you have to click "Dungeons and Dragons" in the members' area! Reading between the lines of Ian's posts to rpga_gamemasters though, I think he's very conscious of the risk that the RPGA's name will fade away, and is doing his best to avoid it happening. |
| #8WickSep 27, 2008 15:33:20 | I am not so attached to the "RPGA" brand... But I just think the DCI cards they sent are ugly... First I wanted to see something with monsters and the such, but then as Pedr point out there is also Star Wars and other games out there. So maybe the DCI card with no indication of game would be the better way to go. But I still think they are ugly... ![]() Maybe a list of games on the back of the card or something. Just a thought! |

| #10thewayfarerSep 27, 2008 18:21:41 | Hey, 1)What are the character generation rules for Delve Nights? 2)Can you play a character in a Delve Night event and then also in an RPGA event or are they two seperate programs? Thanks. |
| #11jinxmitchellSep 27, 2008 23:11:00 | is there anything in these kits for the players similar to magic's fnm promos? |
| #12WickSep 28, 2008 16:24:08 | No there is nothing in the packet for players. It is designed to provide FLAGS and other public gaming places to have a means of running games without much prep time... |
| #13battlegutOct 11, 2008 3:14:08 | Query regarding Delve Night: How do I get this event sanctioned? I do not see it on the list of available mods for sanctioning purposes. And if I do not neet to get it sanctioned, how do I report it then for play purposes? I see a tracking sheet was provided with each packet, but what use is a tracking sheet if I'm not able to report the game? Thank you, |
| #14Aaron_HighcolorOct 11, 2008 10:31:38 | Query regarding Delve Night: If I recall correctly, the option is dungeon delve. My question is this: if we have 8 days to report the event after it is over, is that 8 days after the 1st event, or the 4th, since it is supposed to be run as a weekly, hour adventure per week. |
| #15WickOct 11, 2008 14:04:29 | If I recall correctly, the option is dungeon delve. This is also a question of mine. I sanctioned this by giving a date but it is also available for folks to play as they want... There are folks that come to the library in the afternoons and evening and are playing it, I am giving them RPGA cards and trying to document it but it is hard. How do I report all this? |
| #16battlegutOct 12, 2008 3:26:32 | Thanks for that tidbit on "Delve night" on the sanction list. I see it now. Didn't expect it to have its own category along with "home" and "retail", I was looking on the list of available mods. |
