| #1nicodemus_dupAug 26, 2008 7:11:54 | Where can I find information about running D&D Delve Night events? I know it is starting in september (just a few days away) but I can't tind any more info about it ... |
| #2pedrAug 26, 2008 7:58:47 | I don't think there is any more information about it. I imagine information will be on www.rpga.com as soon as it is available, though existing members of the Wizards Play Network - which up until now hasn't had an rpg component as far as I can tell - might get information a smidgeon sooner. |
| #3Magicstar1Aug 26, 2008 10:08:28 | Chris told us at GenCon the program was in the making. I expect a rather big announcement soon regarding all the chances and the troubles arising with them. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Thursday is RPGA news day on the wizards site. Just a little more patience. |
| #4nicodemus_dupAug 29, 2008 4:07:18 | Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Thursday is RPGA news day on the wizards site. Just a little more patience. Thursday has come and gone but no update on the site that I could find. Has anyone heard anything about this? |
| #5AlphastreamSep 03, 2008 0:56:04 | Nothing new. I do wonder what level we need to be in WPN/RPGA DM to get this. I imagine Master, as that matches up well with the second tier of WPN, but it would be nice to know for sure. Teos |
| #6WolfStar76Sep 03, 2008 6:56:57 | Nothing new. I do wonder what level we need to be in WPN/RPGA DM to get this. I imagine Master, as that matches up well with the second tier of WPN, but it would be nice to know for sure. I thought at GenCon Chris said you'll need "CORE" level. How one gets there, or where it fits in the ranking is yet unnanounced so far as I know. Speaking of rankings. . . did anyone else get bumped from Master-level GM to Herald-level? Or do I need to e-mail WPN? ![]() |
| #7AlphastreamSep 03, 2008 18:19:43 | I thought at GenCon Chris said you'll need "CORE" level. Yeah, I read that as well. However, my level reads Master. Is that the equivalent? Speaking of rankings. . . did anyone else get bumped from Master-level GM to Herald-level? Or do I need to e-mail WPN? Yes. I e-mailed them and they fixed it immediately with a very nice response. Teos |
| #8falcore51Sep 04, 2008 8:33:14 | My Store Contact was able to register the modules, it is under Special Events. |
| #9AlphastreamSep 05, 2008 11:41:35 | I heard back from WPN customer support (they are really good at responding quickly). The Delve night is not yet in the ordering system (the above poster was probably thinking of the special weekend LFR mod). They said the Delve night would be announced to WPN members once it is available, the same way they announced the special weekend mod. Teos |
| #10Fundin_StrongarmSep 06, 2008 10:21:22 | Does anyone know much about how Delve Nights will work or are we waiting for the info from WPN? I've started to run biweekly (I hope) RPGA adventures at my FLGS on Saturday nights but wonder if Delve Nights might work better. Specifically, I'm wondering about character creation and leveling up -- will Delve Nights use pre-generated characters or bring-your-own and whether they can be levelled up? It sounds like they are single encounter 1-1.5 hour combats. I wonder if pre-gens will work best with that. |

Specifically, I'm wondering about character creation and leveling up -- will Delve Nights use pre-generated characters or bring-your-own and whether they can be levelled up? I believe the goal is to encourage retail stores to run "Friday Night Delves" (a nice tie-in to Friday Night Magic). I'm pretty sure you can bring your LFR characters if they're level-appropriate, at least, I kinda think I heard Chris say so at the GenCon members meeting. I missed bits and pieces of this part of the meeting I must confess. Dunno if LFR characters will get any bonuses for playing (XP, Gold, etc) or if it's just to test your character's mettle in a different play environment, but it should still be fun. ![]() |
| #12jeicheSep 10, 2008 9:18:51 | I read the article where you have to part of the Wizards Play Network so I signed up and at the end it said a coordinator would contact you. No contact yet. Been a couple of weeks. |
| #13krystalshieldSep 10, 2008 9:25:35 | As of last Thursday, the word from WotC to a distributor was that they were going to start rolling it out in the next week or two. Sounds like end of September is more realistic for getting this, imo. |
| #14nicodemus_dupSep 10, 2008 9:46:43 | I send a mail to enroll in wpn and a week later I got the additional links on my RPGA page when I logged in. So there's already some activity ... |
| #15Lord_DarquainSep 19, 2008 13:09:07 | You can sign up for them now by going to Event Sancitoning>D&D>Then choose D&D Delve Night from the dropdown menu, NOT Special Event or Retail. If you're going to run them on multiple nights, you need to sign up for each night separately (like FNM). Sanctioning needs to be completed by September 20th (for the October Delve). =-=-=-=-=-=-= Now then, does anyone have any idea how rewards for Delve Night work? I've heard all kinds of crazy things. |
| #16WolfStar76Sep 19, 2008 13:44:01 | Now then, does anyone have any idea how rewards for Delve Night work? I've heard all kinds of crazy things. There's been nothing official said that I'm aware of, so anything you're heard is almost certainly just speculation. |
| #17nicodemus_dupSep 19, 2008 15:37:10 | You can sign up for them now by going to Event Sancitoning>D&D>Then choose D&D Delve Night from the dropdown menu, NOT Special Event or Retail. I don't know yet if I can find enough players to participate. Can I sanction the event now and cancel it later if it cannot go through? |
| #18Lord_DarquainSep 19, 2008 15:46:46 | Yes, but I believe they may have you send the prizes (if any) back if you end up not running it. |
| #19nicodemus_dupSep 19, 2008 15:49:05 | Yes, but I believe they may have you send the prizes (if any) back if you end up not running it. where can I find more info about the event? you seem to know a lot about it ... |
| #20Lord_DarquainSep 19, 2008 16:02:53 | They've been sending some info out in emails to WPN Gateway Level or higher coordinators and they've also been posting info to DDI. A lot of the actual meat of how character creation, gameplay, and rewards will work is still unknown. http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=dci/wpn/main http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/drrep/20080820 |
| #21nicodemus_dupSep 19, 2008 16:09:12 | I don't seem to find it in the list to sanction it. I only see rpga adventures. How is it named? |
| #22Lord_DarquainSep 19, 2008 16:15:31 | From the dropdown when you select Home Game, Retail, etc. you must select D&D Delve Night instead. If it isn't on the list, then you may have to be set up both as a WPN Gateway Level or higher Coordinator AND/OR an RPGA Herald Level or higher GM. I'm not sure which (or if both) are required, I just know I am both and I was able to sign up. |

Do you have a Gateway level WPN membership line on your membership list? When I signed up for WPN, I received the following membership lines: D&D miniatures - coordinator, Magic - coordinator and star wars miniatures - coordinator (all at gateway level). |
| #24Lord_DarquainSep 19, 2008 16:38:52 | I am Herald level GM and should be set up as a WPN Gateway level. Do you have a Gateway level WPN membership line on your membership list? When I signed up for WPN, I received the following membership lines: D&D miniatures - coordinator, Magic - coordinator and star wars miniatures - coordinator (all at gateway level). I was already a DCI Coordinator for everything they make before "the merge" and my DCI/RPGA memberships were merged years ago, so I can't really comment on how things are supposed to be for the average user. If you are both a WPN Coordinator and an RPGA GM and are listing a public venue for the event and you don't have D&D Delve Night as part of the drop down, I would contact DCI about that ASAP and see if they can sanction you manually until they fix your account. The sanctioning deadline is tomorrow. |
| #25nicodemus_dupSep 20, 2008 1:06:13 | Where did you find this deadline info? Or is that info found when you sanction an event? Perhaps it is only relevant for people in the US who will receive the physical kits? I heard we here in Europe would only have access to the electronic download. |
| #26kinevonSep 20, 2008 7:43:23 | Where did you find this deadline info? Or is that info found when you sanction an event? Perhaps it is only relevant for people in the US who will receive the physical kits? I heard we here in Europe would only have access to the electronic download. It was in an email from the Wizards Play Network: Sanctioning Reminder |
| #27WolfStar76Sep 20, 2008 9:30:11 | It was in an email from the Wizards Play Network: Unfortunately, that e-mail seems to be in error, as today, the 20th, I can't sanction the event. |
| #28kinevonSep 20, 2008 11:32:06 | Unfortunately, that e-mail seems to be in error, as today, the 20th, I can't sanction the event. Well, you can sanction the next night, for 10/3/08. Heh. Well, you get only so far, even then. I think they screwed up their database, again. Sigh. Before you can complete your sanction request, you must resolve the issues below. |
| #29Lord_DarquainSep 20, 2008 20:32:45 | Maybe Sanctioning closes at 12:01AM Pacific Time on the day listed? I was able to sign up this passed Thursday (the 18th) for the full month, though the first one does have to be after the 3rd, presumably so that they have time to send you the kit. |
| #30nicodemus_dupSep 21, 2008 1:56:58 | I was able to sign up this passed Thursday (the 18th) for the full month, though the first one does have to be after the 3rd, presumably so that they have time to send you the kit. Can you tell us if it falls under the RPGA awards system and how many points it awards for players/GMs ? |
| #31Lord_DarquainSep 21, 2008 9:13:16 | No, I can't. I'd like to know how they're doing player/GM prizes as well. This link should work, and if you click on one of the Delve Night listings, you see that it doesn't list a point value the way normal RPGA events do. |
| #32AlphastreamSep 25, 2008 21:48:55 | New info: > > Due to an extremely high level of interest in the new D&D Delve program we are doing a one time extension from Friday 9/26/08 to Sunday 9/28/08 for organizers to complete sanctioning. > > D&D Delve Night is a monthly dungeoncrawl adventure that is separated into four encounters. Each encounter takes about 1–2 hours to complete. The encounters are meant to be played one per week, or as often as the organizer and DM agree to run them. Each encounter is displayed on a full-color cardstock sheet with all the information needed to DM the session right on the sheet. Players simply show up with characters of the appropriate level (or create them onsite) and jump right into the action! > > To sanction your event: > > Go to www.rpga.com > On the left in the navigation bar under RPGA click on Sanction an Event > Log in using your RPGA or DCI number and password > On the right in the navigation box headed My Links click on Sanction Event > Follow along with the sanctioning process > Ensure you select D&D as the Brand, Delve as the Event Type, and after checking the adventures hit Add before Next. > > Please note: There is nobody in the office after 12 noon PST (GMT +8) Friday until Monday morning so we recommend doing this early on Friday and contacting us immediately if you have any challenges. > |
| #33Lord_DarquainSep 25, 2008 22:11:54 | Any word yet on how character creation and rewards will work? |
| #34billv1Sep 26, 2008 13:01:25 | Does anyone know what might be the reason that when I create an event for the D&D Delve Night, it is successful and gives me a sanctioning number, but when I go to My Events, it does not give me any module to download? Bill |
| #35Lord_DarquainSep 26, 2008 13:14:38 | 1. The address you put in for location should have been the public address for where Delve Night will take place. It will show up as such on public areas of the internet. 2. They will send a packet with everything you need to run Delve Night to the address entered. |
| #36BigsSep 26, 2008 16:00:54 | Says I don't have a sanctioned location to run the event . I have been DENIED! ![]() |
| #37WickSep 26, 2008 16:32:26 | Says I don't have a sanctioned location to run the event . I have been DENIED! That is sad... I am running mine at the Public Library! |
| #38Lord_DarquainSep 26, 2008 19:52:59 | I'm running mine at the local game store. |
| #39kapnkrunchOct 01, 2008 19:22:07 | 2. They will send a packet with everything you need to run Delve Night to the address entered. Is this the case for Canadian locales, as well? I've got my event all registered and everything, which is groovy, but I want to make sure I've done everything correct to get the materials. |
| #40Lord_DarquainOct 01, 2008 20:35:35 | I'm not sure, you should contact DCI. We got our October Delve Kit by the way: October's Delve is The Tower of Maraj for a party of 4-6 1st level PCs. Players will need to create a lvl1 character using the CCG OR make one onsite OR use a pregen. The single included pregen is a lvl1 Dragonborn Paladin. The Delve is indeed a series of 4 encounters, each designed to last 1-2 hours, with the full Delve clearly design to happen over a period of 4 weeks. The encounters seemed to be shaped like the old D&D Worldwide Game Day stuff: a quick hook before the first encounter then a bunch of dungeon combat. And things are not solo brute based at all. So far. Rewards are not clear. Nothing else is in the package. Perhaps everyone will get RPGA points? We'll find out when we report the first week. |
| #41zachmitchlOct 02, 2008 8:21:01 | Can players use their Living Forgotten Realms characters if they are still at first level? If so can they gain exp? Do the characters gain exp or treasure at all? Is there anywhere that has more information on the Dungeon Delves? It seems like a great program but Wizards hasn't provided enough details regarding it. I have signed up, but it sounds like I won't get all the information I should have even when I receive the package. |
| #42pedrOct 02, 2008 8:31:16 | I don't know the answers to most of your questions, sorry, but unless you see something clearly stating the contrary, LFR characters can't get xp and rewards from the Delve Night. The guiding principle should be that unless you have LFR-branded campaign documentation saying that LFR characters can get XP/rewards from the adventure, they can't. In other words, always assume the answer will be 'no' until and unless you see something that says that they can. |
| #43dbemanOct 07, 2008 7:39:27 | ? on reporting... Are we supposed to report each week...or wait until the end of the month. I ask only because when I try to report the event it won't allow me to do so...before I bother tech support at WotC I just wanted to make sure I was doing everything correctly on my end! |
| #44Lord_DarquainOct 07, 2008 10:47:44 | 1. This is NOT an LFR event. Perhaps future events will be, but this is not. The RPGA offers LOTS of non-living adventures like these. See also the H1-E3 series, Scales of War, the PREV series, and miscellaneous Dungeon Magazine adventures. All are available for sanctioned play with D&D Rewards points but none use or count for any Living campaign. 2. The encounters clearly list XP and treasure is given out after the 4th one, I have no idea why, possibly in case they want to take that character on a play it in a home game? WotC has done this a lot in one-shots and preview adventures as well with that given as the reason. If you are using these as one-shot characters that will never be used again, I would suggest to your players that they take this opportunity to try something new and completely different from what they would normally play. Delve Night can be used in this way both to provide a short but fun experience and to help teach players how different roles & power sources act and interact on the battlefield. 3. The white packet that came with the kit clearly says you are supposed to report each week within the 8-day DCI reporting deadline. If you can't report it for some reason, I would contact DCI. With the move to WPN's tiered system, events reported stay on your record as a mark against you when determining if you should get access to high-level events later on. |
| #45dbemanOct 08, 2008 12:18:25 | The white packet that came with the kit clearly says you are supposed to report each week within the 8-day DCI reporting deadline. That's what I thought I read, but when I was unable to report I thought that I may have been mistaken. I've sent the snafu off to DCI...hopefully they'll get back to me before the reporting deadline. I was also curious to see if anyone else was having a similar issue...but I'm guessing not! |
| #46Alter_BoyOct 08, 2008 16:21:17 | Quick question. I'm running Delve Nights at my FLGS. I've been given four encounters, but our FLGS has us scheduled for only two days. Is it against the rules to run 2 encounters a day? If so, is there an official FAQ I can point my storeowner towards? |
| #47Lord_DarquainOct 08, 2008 21:49:28 | dbeman, tonight was my first session and I was able to add players and save the form, but the final report button doesn't seem to do anything. Is this what happened to you?Quick question. It sounds like you can probably schedule them however you want as long as that is made clear to all players and potential players in advance. |
| #48dbemanOct 13, 2008 15:21:02 | dbeman, tonight was my first session and I was able to add players and save the form, but the final report button doesn't seem to do anything. Is this what happened to you? Yes...this is exactly what happened to me. I'm glad to see I'm not alone! I've sent two emails to dci@wizards.com, but have yet to receive a response. I'll likely send a third at the end of this week. |
| #49Lord_DarquainOct 13, 2008 15:24:57 | I've yet to receieve responses to emails I sent to dci@wizards.com weeks ago. ![]() |
| #50dbemanOct 13, 2008 20:29:41 | I've yet to receieve responses to emails I sent to dci@wizards.com weeks ago. Perhaps they're all busy working on hiding the D&D Insider content from non-subscribers! |
| #51wagnertOct 13, 2008 21:33:37 | My local game store is running this and the manager asked me for help. On his screen it allowed him to enter 5 players DCI numbers but we didn't see any way to add a second session or to enter the DCI number of the judge. |
| #52Lord_DarquainOct 13, 2008 22:41:34 | Like a DCI collectible game event, the judge was entered when the event was sanctioned. This is also causing issue for me as the plan was for me to coordinate and play, but I've ended up DMing. And the packet specifically asks you to find additional DMs for additional tables, but there is no way to add the additional tables OR the additional DMs. Oh great and wise RPGA VCL, can you send these problems straight to someone's desk? I fear I will be punished for tardiness and unable to get my players their points if I am still unable to report after the 8-day deadline which hits this week. |
| #53WolfStar76Oct 14, 2008 6:36:07 | Like a DCI collectible game event, the judge was entered when the event was sanctioned. This is also causing issue for me as the plan was for me to coordinate and play, but I've ended up DMing. Well, I'm just a poster like you guys, I just have the added task of keeping threads in order and on-topic. So I've no greater powers of contact than you have. That said, I'm fairly certain the Globals have been keeping tabs on this, and they've got the ear of Mr. Tulach, so what may be able to be done will be done in the order that it can be done. :-) Alright, I'm done. ![]() |
| #54dbemanOct 15, 2008 17:13:25 | OK...I figured it out. If you click the "add session" button, it takes you to a screen similar to reporting any other RPGA event. From there you can add your players and report the event normally. |
| #55Lord_DarquainOct 16, 2008 13:00:42 | He's right, they changed it! It's just a normal rpga reporting form now, you can even set any judge and add additional sessions! ![]() |
| #56stuartgreenwellOct 16, 2008 21:41:41 | I am not seeing an "add session" button/link anywhere, nor a place to put in a GM. All I have is add player, Save, and Submit. I added players, the extra GM into the player section. Hit submit, and it comes back to the same screen. It isn't reporting.OK...I figured it out. |
| #57Lord_DarquainOct 16, 2008 22:24:12 | Um, scroll down? It's still working right for me. |
| #58stuartgreenwellOct 17, 2008 8:11:39 | Well either I really am not understanding, or it is doing different things for different people. Here is what I am seeing. No option to add GMs or Events. And at this point, when I hit "report event", it comes back to this exact screen. No errors or anything, just back to this Screen.![]() Um, scroll down? It's still working right for me. |
| #59Lord_DarquainOct 17, 2008 11:54:10 | Hmm, yeah, that's not what I see at all. Try emailing WPN. dci@wizards.com |
| #60Aaron_HighcolorOct 19, 2008 20:20:23 | Just to clear up some "questions", I received an email from Tim Kelley and I was told that reporting was to be done up to 8 days after the final event. |
| #61Lord_DarquainOct 19, 2008 20:55:38 | Right, that's true for all WPN events for all game systems. It's been a DCI rule for a long time. Failure to report can effect future sanciton opportunities. |
| #62Lord_DarquainOct 23, 2008 22:20:33 | Well either I really am not understanding, or it is doing different things for different people. Here is what I am seeing. No option to add GMs or Events. And at this point, when I hit "report event", it comes back to this exact screen. No errors or anything, just back to this Screen. Well, I was able to report the first two weeks of Delve just fine using the RPGA-style forms. But now, when I log in to report this week's Delve (#3 for me), it is back to the old form and the button is once again not working. |
| #63socksieboy01Jun 18, 2010 19:45:02 | I know that this is a pretty dead topic but dioes anyone have or kow where I can find a list of ALL the Delve Night Kits titles? I know the first one is The Tower of Maraj. Any help? |
