| #1astrogaterNov 23, 2008 13:17:41 | Hi there I was hoping someone here might help me. I have an 8-digit DCI number and my adventures havent been logged at all since the first game that I played in LFR at the local hobbyshop. I've since grown to level 4 and none of this has been recorded. My senior GM sent me an email detailing that due to my 8-digit DCI and not a 10-digit, this might interrupt or make it unable for my updates to be affirmed. So, my question to you is this : How can I get a new DCI and get my character updated? I hate to think I did all this work for nothing... Thanks for your help. |

Does it show your name and the correct character names/numbers in the reporting form after they put your DCI number in? I can't see a situation where these are showing up and your character isn't being updated properly in the system. Also, make sure the DM isn't treating your old DCI number like they would an old eight digit RPGA number. It is my understanding that old DCI numbers don't need any numbers added to the start like old RPGA numbers do. So if he has been putting in your number as 10XXXXXXXX it may be recording as the wrong number. |

So far as I can tell when I check my stats on the RPGA site; only the first mod I played is listed, though i've been playing since august and am level 4 currently. It has me listed as level 1 with 75 gold. It does have my name listed, but its never been updated from that first game session. The senior gm told me I could get a new dci # with a 10-digit frame, but I havent been able to find a way to do so yet. I play again tuesday so when I go in, i'll talk with the senior gm about whether or not theyre using the 1 and 0 hex to fill in the rest of the DCI#. Any help in the meantime would be appreciated. |

If your DM is not seeing those he is doing it wrong. That would probably be the simplest way to know if it is the DM or the system screwing up. |

The easy check for this is to compare the number you use to log in with the number you are entering for the tracking sheets. They should be exactly the same. If you log in with exactly the same number you use on report tracking sheets and do not see your character information (nor any other system-created characters) and you know the table has been reported, then I would contact DCI and ask them what they think. Ideally, you could provide a complete example: I played on [date] and used my DCI# [#] on the tracking form. My PC was PC# [PC#]. I earned 400XP and 125gold. The DM was [DCI#]. She/He says the game was reported and there were no problems with using my DCI number and my correct character number was used. I do not see the results. My guess is that something in the above is off. Possibilities include: - DM has not reported game - DM reported game, but the number you gave for DCI was incorrect (or not legible), and you were either left out of the reporting or an incorrect DCI was used - You log in with one number (DCI) but report with another (RPGA) and have not merged the accounts. - You did not state the character number on the tracking forms or you did not maintain characters on the RPGA site. Thus, your XP/GP/etc. have been all reported to a new default character (or even several system-created characters), not the one you created later on. I would recommend making sure all the above were not problems, then locating a DM and sending the example info into DCI@wizards.com. Teos |
