| #1blackplaugeNov 18, 2008 12:54:04 | There is going to be a Con in my area in January and I'm thinking that I'd like to run RPGA sanctioned games there. Given that I'm the only one running such games now in the area, it's likely that the convention organizers will ask me to take the lead on coordinating all RPGA content at the Con (I know the organizers personally, and they've already hinted at this). Now, while the sanctioning of "normal" RPGA events at a Convention seems straight forward to me (select "Convention" from the drop down list for the event type), I'm thinking it might also be fun to have Delve events at the Con for a bit of a higher turnover gaming: enabling more people to play in a shorter space of time, a lighter commitment for other DMs, and maybe a chance for me to play instead of just DM. Is that allowed? If so, how do I go about getting the Delve packet since they are normally mailed to the hosting store and in this case we're talking about a convention taking place in rented space (a local hotel)? It should be noted that currently I don't run the Delve because the store where I host my regular events doesn't meet the player number requirements for Core level access to WPN. The store owner mentioned to me that I might be able to sanction the Delve personally once I've run 8 events, but I haven't looked into this yet as I don't expect to reach 8 events until December 12th. |

You just have to run it for the public, to my knowledge, that i the only requirement. http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=dci/wpn/main Running it at a con would be a little more difficult, as you you can book the delve if you pick Convention from the drop down (you have to pick delve). However, it seems like your Con is smaller from your description. So you would just have to book the delve separate from anything else at the con. Stuart |

Even on the website you linked it states "those qualified for Core-Level would be eligible to run [...] the new D&D Delve Night [...]". That said, if that's not true (and it wouldn't be the first time WotC had posted incorrect or out-of-date information online), how would I get the Delve packet if it is normally mailed to the location where the Delve is to be run (which is what posts in this forum indicate)? In this case, the Convention is taking place in rented space in a hotel. The hotel isn't connected to the convention (other than through the space rental agreement), so mailing it to the hotel wouldn't be appropriate. I would need it mailed to me, personally as the RPGA coordinator for the event, or to the Convention organizers (who could then pass it along to me). |

I would sign up for it and then just email the WPN people. They have been very helpful to my questions in the past and I am sure they would be willing to accommodate to get the RPGA/WPN in the door at a convention. |
