I was wondering if D&D Rewards Members also recieve that special plastic membership card the DCI issues for Magic Player Rewards Members.

That's a great question.

I'll see if I can get a solid answer.

In the old rewards system, anyone who got 20 player reward points received a plastic RPGA card with their first mailing.

I think that you also received a plastic Herald level card with the first DM reward mailing, and similarly a Master level card with the first mailing after passing the Master level test. I'm pretty sure I have a few cards lying around somewhere.

Whether/how this will work with the new system, I do not know!

I have a couple "lines in the water" and we should have at least one answer later today.

I had to read that five times before I 'got' it.

I think I'll petition for a prohibition on bad punning to be added to the CoC.

(The Living Greyhawk group I played with in Oxford had a few notorious punners. When I was GM I often asserted that there were no homonyms in any of the languages on Oerth, so all puns were evidence of poor roleplaying, and risked players forfeiting their roleplaying XP.... ;) )

Folks:

Although the DCI and RPGA communities have been merged last August and have since then one player number that works in both communities and share one common data entry point, they still exist as separate entities. The WPN is just a mansion with many rooms, one DCI room, one RPGA room, etc. Accordingly, there are currently no plans for having one card for both communities.

Let me add some details.

I was wondering if D&D Rewards Members also recieve that special plastic membership card the DCI issues for Magic Player Rewards Members.

No.

For now, all i have told them is that they could enroll for D&D rewards and be able to print the RPGA Membership Card

Sage advise .

Also that if they play Magic and accumulate enough reward points, they would get that special MPR Card (which would still be DCI).

You don't need to earn a certain number of reward points, one sanctioned event should be enough. The card is then included by default to the first batch of token/premium cards players receive.

In the old rewards system, anyone who got 20 player reward points received a plastic RPGA card with their first mailing.
I think that you also received a plastic Herald level card with the first DM reward mailing, and similarly a Master level card with the first mailing after passing the Master level test.

This has changed this January; see the description of the revamped rewards program you can find here.

If this doesn't answer your questions, shoot!

PS: Let me give kudos to Wolfstar76 for being such a great VCL!

Yes, but as a point of clarification, they still have to accumulate enough reward points to qualify for token/premium cards. Only then will they qualify for mailing and the membership card will be included in that first mailing.
The first textless spell/premium card card mailing you qualify to receive will include a special clear plastic Magic Player Rewards DCI card

It's so sad to hear the there are no more special plastic membership cards for RPGA. Did they stopped the player rewards because of people selling the collectible rewards cards on EBay? Because the membership cards cant be resold. Maybe its a cost issue, since MPR can afford to issue player rewards because to volume of business Magic Players bring. (any comments?)

For a more coordinated action, is there a place where we can petition for the return of this feature in the rewards program, both for players and DMs alike?

There's always the option of submitting your feedback to Customer Service (http://wizards.custhelp.com).

If enough people comment on an issue/give the same feedback change may come about.

they still have to accumulate enough reward points

niende:

Yes, nothing gets sent out unless a player has earned at least five points, ie, until the player has played in at least five tournaments.

How many LFR games do I need to DM before I get one of those cool "herald" cards?

its a bit confusing, but the details are here:
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=rpga/rewards/welcome
Bsically, you can be eligible to recieve mailling 3x a year depending on how your GM status is. I am not yet sure whether D&D GM Rewards will still give out these Special Plastic Membership Cards, since there is no mention of it in the webpage, and i have yet to hear of any confirmation if that feature of the rewards program is still in place. But if there is, they should send you one along with your next mailing which you qualified for.

I started DMing LFR in August, when the game went legal, and managed to accumulate 48 points by November 12. I got the mailing over the winter break with three Rewards cards, the password for the pdf, and nothing else.

I was really hoping for my Herald card, but that hasn't happened. I've never received an RPGA member card, even though I had 28 member points collected by the summer mailing date (of course, there was that huge snafu with that mailing not going out).

At this point, I've told my players that if they want a card that bad, they can download it image, print it on cardstock, and have Kinko's or someone else laminate it.

Of course, half of my players who sent their cards in over 4 months ago now have yet to have their numbers entered into the system. I still have to type their names in when I report a game. And I've contacted DCI customer support several times to try and get the numbers added, with no luck. C'est la vie.

an update here which i recieved from email:

Plastic D&D player membership cards are something we have talked about as a possibility for the D&D DM Rewards program. We don’t have any current timeline for them (they are just something we have as a possible reward), but whenever we decide to use them, it will be through the DM Rewards program.

I’m glad you encourage your players to sign up for MPR, and I’m glad the plastic cards are as popular as they are with your players. Hopefully we will soon offer the same benefits to our D&D players.

I have been a RPGA GM for a few years and never got a plastic card. Heck, I went up to Master level GM and never got a plastic card. I would love to have something a little more solid than the card stock thing I have. A lot of my players have lost their cards too (thankfully I had the RPGA number on hand of the players I went to game with Saturday).

The irony is back when they DID issue plastic RPGA membership cards, I would keep getting a new one every few months. All pretty much identical. I ended up with quite a stack.

Starting at Master Level, GMs receive a premium card for reaching their first twenty point benchmark at each GM level. In addition to their increased durability and cool art, the GM cards prominently features your GM Level.

I dont know how one becomes a Master Level GM for RPGA D&D 4.0 now though. There's no test available for it at the present.

Actually, all of this information is out of date.

The RPGA no longer has any plans to support multiple levels of GMs. Once you're a certified DM, you'll remain a DM.

I suspect that page/those pages will be updated accordingly with the rest of the update(s) being made to the RPGA and D&D wesite in the next couple months.
