| #1CHeardMay 12, 2009 17:18:35 | Is there an appropriate, approved way for RPGA DMs to download adventures they don't intend to run? I run a homebrew campaign, but love to read adventures to get ideas about encounters, adventure design, and so on. I know that I can schedule an RPGA event, download the adventure, then cancel the event, but that just seems wrong somehow. Advice? |

We ask that in order to obtain the free content we offer, you schedule and report play of that content. We want you to use the adventures in the context of our organized play programs and become a part of that larger community. In the future, we'll have better ways for you to browse the adventure selections and make more informed choices about what you'd like to download and play. |

The contracts that RPGA had with its authors, at least in the 3.5 days, didn't give the RPGA any further rights to re-publish the modules after they were retired from official play. I don't know if the contracts for LFR / 4E are the same...but, even if they *did* allow the RPGA to re-publish the modules after they retire, you wouldn't have any of them for two years; LFR modules have a very long "shelf life". |

That sounds great! Sometimes I download a module with the intent to run it, do a quick read-through and realize it is not what I expected nor want so cancel the sanctioning and look for another module. With more detailed information about each module this would save me time as well as eliminating the need to sanction something and, possibly, cancel the sanctioning just to see what a module was about. |

What I'd like to do, myself, is schedule an RPGA session with some friends, download three adventures, pick the one I like best, and run that one. Of course this is technically possible, but the RPGA website really doesn't want you to do this. And asking the community "is SOME-1-2 a good adventure" is liable to get me about an equal amount of yes and no answers ![]() |

For example, the person asking for zombie adventures got a pretty narrow answer since that is a simple look at the monster lists. |
