I'd like to know if there will be a markup for magic items bought from merchants. If there won't be any markup, then I don't see any benefit to taking Enchant Magic Item. Also, will there be a component cost for Disenchant Magic Item? The PHB suggests that it's alright to waive the component cost for this ritual, depending on your campaign. |

Actually it says that's the base market price, not the component cost. Prices shown are the base market price for the items. The actual cost to purchase a magic item depends on supply and demand and might be 10 to 40 percent more than the base market price. I'd like to know if there will be a markup for magic items bought from merchants. If there won't be any markup, then I don't see any benefit to taking Enchant Magic Item. There's no markup listed in the CCG, so I'd assume no. Aside from the potential benefit of re-sizing a weapon/armor found in a mod, for use during the mod (before it's a Found Item) there's little *mechanical* benefit I can see. Also, will there be a component cost for Disenchant Magic Item? The PHB suggests that it's alright to waive the component cost for this ritual, depending on your campaign. Our campaign doesn't (currently) mention skipping the cost, so assume it's still in place. |
