Our local Meetup coordinator is trying to get into the D&D Encounters program, but if it has to be done on Wednesdays, it will probably not work. I can't play on Wednesdays, and I'm pretty sure a number of others can't as well. If we can somehow, run them on Saturdays (our usual meetup days) then it would be much easier to participate in the Encounters campaign. If it simply must be run on Wednesdays, then it will probably never happen and the blame can squarely be placed at WotC's feet for overly draconian restrictions on when the sessions can be played. I think the Wednesday only clause is ludicrous because it means that many can't participate that would like to. I know they want to do something similar to Friday Night Magic, but this policy is like saying you can only play LFR on Sunday afternoons for it to be legal. It really is overly restrictive and doesn't make sense if you are trying to get more people to play the game. If you want more people to play the game, you need for them to be able to play when it's convenient for them, not when WotC tells you that you can play it. |

As for Wednesdays ... there are some reports of stores/venues not running it on Wednesdays at all and so far this hasn't been an issue. However, the intent stated by WotC at the beginning was that this would be a store-only, Wed-only event. *shrug* |
| #5talok55Jun 04, 2010 8:16:01 | The meetup organizer was working on ordering it. I don't know if he's doing through a store (I guess he'd have to) or any other details. |

This rule is, of course, not enforced, and many of those flouting it are quite open about that fact, so it is unlikely that there would be even the slightest repercussion from you doing so. The only real impact of this being a rule instead of a suggestion is to penalize those stores that are strict about following WOTC rules. |
| #7_Mithreinmaethor_Jun 04, 2010 16:15:43 | And it is not by the rules of DDE to run it anywhere other than a retail outlet. They arent going to show up and stop you but you could likely get the store that ordered it in a position where they can no longer offer DDE and other game day type events. |

I don't know who decided on Wednesday, but many individuals have different schedules that preclude Wednesday play. In the south especially, many players have church activities on Wednesdays, and other people may have other activity conflicts. It's fine to suggest Wednesday, but requiring it to be run on a particular day of the week (other than on weekends) is just begging to have the organizers lie in order to order the events. People checking the schedule and seeing it scheduled locally on Wednesday will show up on Wednesday and discover it was run on Tuesday, or perhaps won't be run until Saturday. Most likely, they won't show up on the actual day. Please allow the organizers to choose the day of the week that they plan to run the encounter session in future Encounter Seasons. |
| #9AlphastreamJun 26, 2010 19:15:23 | The key is to have your WPN store speak to their WPN Rep and clear anything other than only on Wednesdays. My store received permission to run on other days due to conflicts, but we kept a Wednesday game as well. In the future we will move to Wednesdays (once the store finishes expansion). |
