| #1WickJan 14, 2009 9:30:11 | Are there any specific RPGA or general game clubs out there? There is a group of us that are interested in finding a good way to help support our local game store and we thinking that starting a game club with dues and other funding to be used to purchase items to use a our own reward system for players and DM's. This would help our members and the local game stores. Any input would be appreciated. If you have an organized group could you answer the following questions? 1. Do you have dues? 2. Do you charge per game slot? 3. Do you raise funds in other ways? 4. Do you have a website, if so what is the address so I can take a look? As I said we are trying to come up with ways to provide financial support to our local game stores that would also benifit the players and DM's. I think with the RPGA Rewards program going exclusively DM we need to begin providing something for our players that will also benifit the stores. As a player or DM I like the idea of store credit for things but that is cash out of the stores pocket. If we collect so sort of annual club membership fee and sell T-shirts we can generate enough funds to provide rewards to players and actually pay for them so the store is not out money. These are hard times for all retailers and I think small margin game stores are going to be hit very hard. Ed |

We give the option of either paying $40 per year for a membership, or $2.50 per slot for one-shot games. Mostly, I'm told, the money goes toward judge rewards ($2.50 store credit per slot judged) and supplementing the con fees to help pay for our two yearly conventions. We also keep a club library of D&D books. Infrequently we do other fund raising. We did a yard sale a few years ago that went reasonably well. |

It receives its funding from Student Association funding and membership is free to students and those sponsored by student members. We cover alot of things including gaming, we aren't D&D or RPGA-specific though. We do a fair amount of local business, which would probably benefit from WOTC providing more options, better rewards, etc. We have a sizable library of gaming materials including several corebook sets for both 3.5 and 4th Ed, and we make yearly purchases. |
