the plan is two parts. Part one will be updating the document itself and the second one iwll making it in a wiki here on the site.

Sure, I'm happy to help. To be honest I didn't know there was one (I guess it was started by DCI people?)

I have to say, there may have been some concerns (and plenty of teething troubles) with the database and organisation merge between DCI and RPGA, but from the UK point of view being plugged into the same game support network has been great, and being able to share expertise with people who've spent years organising DCI events is very useful.

I'm rather busy the next couple of weeks, so might not be that involved if things really move quickly, but come June I should have time to write stuff etc.

FYI, I've begun the wiki and I'll post a link in a few days when I finish with the initial data dump.  I'm about half way through, but I won't be able to finish it tomorrow.  I suspect it'll be done by Saturday.  After that time, I'll post the link and we can go to town on fixing inaccurate data and reformatting for clarity.

The RPGA portion is up here.  Here are a few things I know should be updated, but I just don't know what is current in RPGA land:

  1. J.2 What campaigns should I run? --> obviously it's all old.

  2. J.5 Point 3 refers to a website, but I don't know which one so I can't link it.

  3. There are innumerable links to www.rpga.com that could probably be narrowed down to a more specific location.

  4. I'll be adding a link back to the table of contents when I finish the whole thing.

  5. The logo is B&W, is there a color one that would look sweeter?

  6. Should there be a link to the RPGA forums?  Where should it go?

There are probably many more areas that need to be revised, so those of you that are knowledgeable and willing to put some time into the wiki have a look and see what needs fixing.

Lastly, I'm thinking the Introduction paragraph to the whole thing needs a rewrite, since this handbook is written by T.O.s and players and not the DCI staff.  I'm thinking about something like this:

Thank you for your interest in sanctioning events with the DCI®. By sanctioning your
events through the DCI, your local players receive the opportunity to develop rating
and rankings in the worldwide communities of their favorite Wizards of the Coast
games. And perhaps more importantly, sanctioning your events with the DCI says that
your store will be running the highest quality events available. This Tournament
Organizer’s Handbook is a reworking of the 2007 Tournament Organizers Handbook.
It has been updated by T.O.s like yourselves who have been running events and
keeping in contact with Wizards staff. While the information in here may not be
100% accurate it is an excellent source of information for you to get started with. If
you have any questions about the content of this wiki please post them in the appropriate
forums:

Good luck with all of your upcoming events!

The Handbook is mostly finished.  You can find it here.  Basically, I have copied the original manual over while making changes to the areas I knew were out of date.  There are likely many more areas that need updating so if you have the time and want to help out, take a breeze through the Wiki and find yourself some problems.  If you do not feel comfortable fixing them yourself, just post in this thread (or PM me ) and I'll take care of it.

There are a few outstanding issues that I know need to be dealt with:
  1. Section C is a mess.  It's the worst formatted section in the original manual and moving if over only made it worse.  If someone wants to spend some time figuring out how to make that section read smoother, it would be awesome!

  2. Section G decided it didn't want to look like the other ones and runs crazy off the page.  If there is a wiki expert that wants to solve this problem, I would appreciate it.

When making changes, it be a good idea to note the modifications you make in the discussion area stating why you made the change.

Lastly make changes only when you are sure that your change is correct.

Thanks again, James.

I'm going to poke my VCLs, and a couple guides I know to show them toward your wiki - and I plan to do some work on the document myself.

Thanks! I'm doing the best I can to keep the task lists up to date with what I know needs changing, but there many issues that I probably haven't located yet.  It is nice to know some other people will be double checking my work.

Trappedslider, there are some changes (like the one I'm posting now) that you may not want to submit for the document center.  A few of my changes are designed specifically for the wiki nature of this handbook and would not look professional in an official manual.  If you need help identifying some of those, let me know and I'll see if I can help you find them all.

I'm going to post this introduction section to the Manual in a couple days.  I've changed it a little bit to make it reflect the work we've all put into it.  If you have any changes (grammatical, spelling, or content wise) please let me know soon so I can revise it.

If you believe the information in this manual is outdated please post in this thread so that you fellow T.O.s can take a look at it and determine if it does in fact need to be changed.

Good luck with all of your upcoming events!

Just curious if anyone has time/interest in fixing up the RPGA section of the T.O. Handbook.  It's been a little while and I know life gets busy, just wanted to remind you guys of this side project.  Tongue out

Updated the RPGA section a bit as per the new sanctioning procedures and a few other things that came up in a conversation with Pedr.
