I’ve played once or twice back in the 90's , but the games were played fast and loose so I have an idea how to play but not of the specific mechanics of the game. |

Many gaming stores are running the "D&D Encounters" program; every few months, Encounters starts a new "season" -- for each season, you meet one night a week (usually on Wednesdays), and play one encounter that evening with your character. It's geared towards introducing new players to the game. On the D&D home page, there's a store locator which can help you find stores near you (it's not clear, but you need to type in your ZIP code on that): www.wizards.com/dnd/Default.aspx In any case, many gaming stores have bulletin boards or web sites which local gamers use to find new players and new groups. Obviously, you'll want to find a group who'll be willing to help you learn the ropes. On these boards, there is also a "RPG Classified" section, for finding players and groups. I'd suggest reading through some of the posts for your region before you post a "looking for group" post, so you can get a feel for what's going on. community.wizards.com/go/forum/view/7585... Finally, just FYI, D&D is now in its 4th edition (when you were playing in the 1990s, you were likely playing 2nd edition). The basic premise of the game is the same, but mechanically, it's quite a bit different. I hope this helps -- let us know if you have more questions. |
