I sent in my registration a couple of weeks ago (very miffed that I couldn't find one stamp but I was able to locate one). How long until I am actually registered?

I mailed it the 10th of February.

There really is no need to mail in the registration any longer. But it doesnt hurt.

Did you take the code on the DCI card and log in and enter the code and follow the steps? That gets you up and running right away.

No I didn't. But I didn't find one on there so I am not sure there was a scratch away thing. The card is 10 digits. But I am not sure if its that new of one.

Is the card a DCI card or a 10 digit RPGA card?

The DCI card has a silver bar across the bottom of the card. Its actually a silver sticker that you peel off and there is a code underneath it.

If its the 10 digit RPGA card then you will definitely have to mail it in. I have friends that have use those and they are still not in the database because they didnt mail them in.

Actaully, DCI cards for the last couple years have had 10 digit numbers. It's only been the last year or so they've had scratch offs.

It may not work, but contacting WotC customer services via the system at http://wizards.custhelp.com may help, if you tell them your number, explain when you sent in the form, and ask if they can send you a password.

There's an entry in the customer service knowledge base (perhaps found here: http://wizards.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/wizards.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=145&p_created=1109819005&p_sid=DcNjtgsj&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9NjksNjkmcF9wcm9kcz01MTgsNjk4JnBfY2F0cz0mcF9wdj0yLjY5OCZwX2N2PSZwX3NlYXJjaF90eXBlPWFuc3dlcnMuc2VhcmNoX25sJnBfcGFnZT0x&p_li=&p_topview=1# but I can't tell if that's a permanent link or not - you can find it by choosing RPGA/Password Request and clicking "No DCI Activation Code")

It says:
No DCI activation code

I have an 8 to 10 digit DCI number with no activation code. What do I do?
Answer

Since activation codes are a relatively new innovation for the DCI, many members have cards that don’t have activation codes associated with them. The activation code is just a way to receive your initial password.

If you have an 8 or 10 digit DCI or RPGA card without an activation code, you may retrieve your password by sending us an email message, using the E-mail Us Tab page. Including as much of the following information as possible with your request: your specific request, your DCI number, full name, address, and birth date (MM/DD/YYYY). We'll get your password out to you as soon as possible as long as the information you provide us is accurate and we can confirm your identity.

(although I am sceptical about the accuracy of the 'eight-digit' bit, at least as far as RPGA numbers are concerned. Information I got directly from Ian Richards immediately after the database merge was that less-than-ten-digit RPGA numbers which did not have a real person attached to them in the old database could not be used to sign up a new member - or for any purpose whatsoever - in the new database. In other words, unused RPGA membership card/forms which have less than ten digits are entirely useless and need to be thrown away.)

Anyone able to answer the original question?

How long does it take the RPGA people to process mailed in forms?

I would like to know because my son is under ten so the automatic activation on the website doesn’t work until the RPGA do something at their end. Unless I lie and put his age down incorrectly. Not something I would normally advocate but then again my patience isn't what it used to be.

Oh! And I did fill the form in giving my parental consent. Just in case someone was going to ask.

So anyone???

Six weeks is a good rule of thumb.

Would you believe that in 14 or 15 years of using this name you're the first to make the (obvious) joke?

That means I still have a couple weeks before I am actually registered. O well. Thanks for answering!

Did you follow the instructions in this post: http://forums.gleemax.com/showpost.php?p=18032984&postcount=6

I'm not going to guarantee that this will work, but it is a method of contacting WotC, and they can get things activated in the system for you.
