| #1rutherfordNov 05, 2008 0:05:38 | So, I've got a lot of people interested in LFR and RPGA play at my local gaming store, plus, I've got the store owner excited about RPGA in the store (this'll be something new for the store). We need help though, how do we sanction the event? I understand there is a retail option on the sanctioning page when you order a module. However, the owner would like to ensure that he gets credit for housing RPGA events because it helps him maintain Gold Store rating from Wizards. Would he still get credit for the event if I sanction it, or does he have to sanction it? And if he sanctions it, would he have to also order all the modules or is there a way for him to sanction it and then allow me to select and download the appropriate modules? It would be much easier if I could order the modules myself, obviously. Anyways, thanks for all your help! |

We need help though, how do we sanction the event? warfteiner wrote a TERRIFIC pictorial guide to sanctioning events. I've included it in the RPGA FAQ at the top of this very forum. I highly recommend you check it out. I understand there is a retail option on the sanctioning page when you order a module. However, the owner would like to ensure that he gets credit for housing RPGA events because it helps him maintain Gold Store rating from Wizards. Would he still get credit for the event if I sanction it, or does he have to sanction it? I'm really not sure how this part works. I know that when I sanction my retail events, my FLGS is/was already in the database. Your best bet, so far as I can tell, would be to have the owner check with his WotC Sales Rep for details. I'll poke around a little and see if I can get any specific answers, but I'm doubtful. And if he sanctions it, would he have to also order all the modules or is there a way for him to sanction it and then allow me to select and download the appropriate modules? Sounds like I can still sanction the events on my own, and as long as I get the address right, the store will get the credit it needs. I'll try it tonight and write if there are any issues. |
| #6warfteinerNov 05, 2008 18:29:23 | I can confirm the following: 1 - Have your FLGS owner/manager/goat-in-charge contact his WotC sales rep and confirm his standing (Bronze/ Gold/ Deep Mauve/ etc) as a retail outlet. Have the owner state that there are sanctioned WotC events being run in the location as "Store-level" events. 2 - Order and sanction ALL - yes, ALL ALL ALL! - events that will be hosted at the store... as "Retail" or "Gameday" events. Very very important that this happens. You can order them *from* anywhere, as long as the location field is identical to the listed address for the retail outlet. 3 - ..... er... play some stuff. With people. And then roll some dice. 4 - Report the event, get the Rewards for the DM & players, and let the nice folks that run the store know how everything is going. Be sure to pick up after the group; rewards and Gold standings are nice but messy gamers lead to store-less gamers. Yay! - warfteiner. PS: Gimme pie. |
