| #1crimsoAug 11, 2009 17:48:10 | But to become a Herald GM to Run a sanctioned Star Wars Campaign, i.e. Dawn of Defiance, I have to go out, buy the 4e Players and GM Handbooks and take a 20 Q Test solely about D&D?? I've been running SW since 95 and played D&D only in 2nd and 3rd Edt. 8 years ago... There MUST be a better way!!!!???? |

| #3crimsoAug 11, 2009 21:08:30 | Oh....well that's awesome! Thanks for the info! |
| #4kenobi65Aug 11, 2009 21:29:58 | Also, just so you know (though perhaps you already do)...you don't *have* to run Dawn of Defiance as an RPGA-sanctioned game. If you do run it as a sanctioned game, you (as the GM) will earn reward points. And, doing so does have the effect of helping to illustrate to the RPGA and WotC that there is interest in organized play for the Star Wars RPG. It's been indicated that the level of RPGA sanctioning for DoD will help determine whether there is a future RPGA SW campaign. Speaking as someone who loved Living Force (the old RPGA SW campaign), I'm glad to see folks sanctioning DoD. ![]() |
| #5sidestepperAug 27, 2009 23:51:37 | I am currently running Dawn of Defiance for RPGA GM points. My players get points also. The good thing is that you get some points toward other RPGA things that you may want to do. For example you may want to run games at a convention that requires you to have a certain amount of games under your belt. The issue is that the points and rewards go to 4th Edition events. So the problem currently is that unless you also run some 4th Edition games, the things you earn by reporting points may be useless to you. But, you could give them to your players that do enjoy 4th Edition. Hopefully there will be some perks for Star Wars players too. |

Ummm...not anymore, they don't. As of early this year, the Player Rewards points system went away. Only GMs earn reward points now. |

LAME! |
| #8AlphastreamAug 31, 2009 17:11:09 | However, things can always change. As a player, it isn't bad to stay "in the system" and have your play registered. If they change their minds, it could mean a few more points and a few more rewards. Also, you encourage players to stay in the system and keep their info current, which will earn them reward cards (there are DoD cards) and possibly other bennies. |

Just to be fair about that: In 2008, when there was still a Player Rewards card program (entailing them mailing physical cards to players), they did include some SWRPG cards in with the LFR cards (though, it was done randomly). Unfortunately, the PDF file which contains the 2008 Player Reward cards only includes the LFR cards; they did not include the Star Wars cards. For 2009, they are producing a much smaller variety of cards (I think there's been 3 sets of 3 or 4 cards each); each set of cards is appearing, for now, in convention prize support packages, with the promise that they'll be released later as a PDF. I haven't seen any Star Wars cards in amongst the 2009 cards. |
| #10sidestepperSep 21, 2009 12:58:23 | It would appear that the 6th adventure for Dawn of Defiance is the last one that is sanctioned by Wizard's Play Network (WPN). I do see a choice for a Saga Edition Home game. I suppose that is how one get's points for whatever campaign they run at home. I have yet to try it, as I am starting the 6th adventure next. If anyone has had an experience with reporting this new way, please post it here. Thanks! |
| #11AlphastreamSep 21, 2009 18:08:03 | It has no download. (Maybe just a tracking form, but nothing of substance). You can sanction (order) it, then report it. Many homegame judges just play and keep track of sessions, then order/report them all at one time. A good rule of thumb is no more than one session per 4-hours of play. |
