The new RPGA/DCI system can only accept ten-digit numbers for new members, i.e. people whose RPGA number was never in the old system.

In other words, is the RPGA application card irrelevant *as a signup card* and can straight DCI numbers be used if the person has one? Can a non-current-RPGA player with a DCI number log in to their DCI account and add RPGA to their games played, and if so, how? Scott |

Can a non-current-RPGA player with a DCI number log in to their DCI account and add RPGA to their games played, and if so, how? I haven't tried any of these things out. I think that if you have the sort of card you'd give to someone playing in their first DCI-sanctioned M:tG or DDM tournament so they can join the DCI, you can now use that card if they play in an RPGA event to report the event. I believe that if someone has a DCI number already you can use that number to report an RPGA event even if the player has never played in the RPGA before. I don't think the player has to do anything - they can just write their DCI number down on the tracking form or give it to the Senior GM when asked for their RPGA number. Note that in this case you will need the full ten-digits - the nine-digit number generated from less-than-nine-digit RPGA numbers is only applicable to RPGA numbers which were in the old system before the change (so not DCI numbers, and not new RPGA numbers). I think (though could be very wrong) that less-than-ten-digit DCI numbers, i.e. old ones, will work in the new system - that's why you have to turn less-than-nine-digit RPGA numbers into nine-digit numbers as their are obviously clashes between the two sets of numbers. If anyone can confirm these things, that would help a lot! |

As the newly appointed VCL for the RPGA section I'll see if I can't make that happen once I get my powers (I'll make a formal announcement when I get my official shiny title) It may not be a post that stays sticky forever, but while its relevant for the next couple months, I'll see if I can't get it up there. ![]() |
| #6itarakoturoAug 25, 2008 18:56:29 | I'm running an event this Wednesday and have no 10-digit cards. I'm expecting to need around 15 membership forms as most of the players will be new. Is there any way you know of that I could get ahold of a pack of new membership forms on such short notice? I'd really hate to have to cancel the entire event because of not being able to sign people up. |

Just fill out a tracking form with everyone's name and what treasure/exp/etc they would get. When you receive a packet of cards, assign a card to each player (jot their name on the card for them, or use a post-it note to keep them straight until the players can fill out the cards themselves). Once you get those cards, just insert the numbers and report your event. If you're a few days late, nobody's going to complain (much). ![]() |

This isn't an option. The game is being run on a train on the way up to Seattle. I will very likely not see most of these people again for a year, at least. There will be forms available at the convention (PAX) itself, but using those would involve tracking down every player during the convention and forcing them to fill out a membership form. |

Option B, then, would be to make a mock-up of the form (get their name, address, e-mail, phone number . . . I think that's everything) and collect 50¢ from each of them. Fill out the forms yourself when you get some, then use the 50 cents to buy an envelope and postage to mail them each their card. ![]() If that's still a huge no-no I *might* have a stack lying around here I could drop in the mail today. I don't know where you're at in relation to Ohio, so I don't know if I can get numbers to you in time, but I could try. |

It's a half-hour drive to pick them up, but it's the best thing I've got. Thanks for the offer, though. |
